Just came from the dealer, signed all the paperwork and handed over a big check. Holy shite, the car is mine. Great feeling.

They asked, "is there anything else we haven't provided you or that you have been promised that has not been given to you?" I said, "yeah, a car!"

I just had a little happy freak out. Two weeks from now, I'll be arriving in South Carolina to pick up the car. I have no idea how I will sleep the night before, I'll be bouncing off the walls in the Greenville Marriott.

Just don't keep calling back to see if it has changed. Because I think that tends to annoy them. Not that I'd know from experience.

That's reassuring.... I think. According to my CA, my car is scheduled to begin production on 6/28 which means I got lucky and they had a slot that was about to go into production anyways I guess. But I only get an error when I check on the website and the phone number still says no scheduled date. Perhaps later this week I'll speak to an actual person when i call.

Just for the fun of it, I called the 1-800 number today. My car is "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel." For once, OC on the Web site is ahead of things - it (accurately) recognizes that my car has made it to America.

Did they ever provide oyu with more info on what happened to the boat? It seemed like it wandered around near Africa for about 3 weeks or something!

Mike, not sure what happened. This boat has limited info on the net and I haven't asked my CA. I think it just left Durban alot later than originally scheduled. Not sure

OC shows mine changed VPC this morning. God this wait sucks. Hopefully should be ready for pickup sometime next week

Looks like we are on the same paths. I checked early a.m. and OC said still in transit. I checked after reading your post and mine is at the Prep Center too.

When did you order? Mine was 5/27.

I ordered mine 6/7. Went into production a week later and left Germany the 25th I think. It just arrived in Brunswick 2 days ago after stopping in Baltimore on Sunday. Damn northerners slowing down my delivery

Surprise Surprise! The OC and the phone line said my car was in transit early this a.m. After reading this thread's updates I checked the OC and it said at the preparation center.

I now get an email today from my CA saying it is ready for pickup!

It is going to be a nice weekend. . .

I've been totally neglectful on this thread.

I picked up my 335 sedan at the Performance Center last Thursday - two days after my b'day, happy birthday to me! - and have bene enjoying it ever since. A trip to Charleston after Performance Center Delivery, the 550 miles back to Washington, and then driving every night after work since then. Car already has almost 900 miles.

A few pics - not the best quality because it was rather grey toward the end of the day in Spartanburg. I love Sparkling Graphite, so clean and subtle, and the light poplar on black leather is a refreshing change from black and burl or black and aluminum:







I have to give a ton of credit to the Performance Center Delivery folks - Donnie and Ray in particular, who were our instructors for the day (and Ray did my delivery, during which I was so excited I think I just said "yeah, sure, ok," to about everything he told me). If you ever have the option of PCD, it is 100% worth it.

I did a one-way flight to Charlotte (79$ on AirTran, which included free soda that you can't get on my previous carrier of choice, US Airways), and then a rental down to Greenville-Spartanburg. Evidently this is pretty common for PCD, and was very easy.

congrats on finally getting your car Mike! Looks like my 3 month wait is almost over as well. That freakin' ghost ship the 'orchid ace' finally hit pt hueneme yesterday, so should only be about a week or so, I'm thinking.

I spoke just a bit too soon - it is at the dealer, they have to prep it, so I could pick it up as early as this afternoon, however I am going out of town so I'll get it Monday. I guess "At the Prep Center" means at the dealer but not yet ready for pickup?

Thanks! Did you ever figure out what happened with that boat - i.e. why it seemed to wander around in the ocean for a couple weeks before they decided to actually bring it to America?

Look forward to seeing pics of your car. When down at the Performance Center, saw a couple Montego E90s at the BMW factory parking lot, it really is a unique, good looking color. Part of me wished I had the guts to order it (with Lemon interior!).

No Mike, never found out what that boat was doing. I did find out it went all the way up to washington state, then back down to pt hueneme to drop off the cars?.

As for the montego--I've always been partial to blue, and I like the fact that you don't see that many montego's on the street--well not in AZ anyway. Dealership didn't even have one to look at!

That sparkling graphite is one sweet color as well, but my wife's acura is REALLY similiar--so couldn't go with that---had to be a little different!!
