Maybe you'll have to take the headlight apart with the oven method to get to them.

Quetions,
I just did the internal wire mod and my xenon turn on for about 30 seconds before they shut down, is this because I have no coded or because I am missing something else?
These are the adaptive ones but I don't plan on using that part, one of the lights is missing that adaptive module but it also turn off just like the other one that has it.

Thanks for the help.

Are the xenon bulbs genuine osram ones? I had one fake osram bulb which would shut down randomly all the time!

The entire assembly is oem, bulb says osram so I can only assume they are the original ones

The fake ones also say osram. Could be worth looking at pics of real ones online as they are slightly different.

Check it out... I reads on another post that if not coded the voltage is not the same and the ballast protection mechanism shuts it down, is this not the case?

That bulb is exactly the same as the problem one i had. I have now realised that the replacement bulb is 66144, same as my existing working one.

So maybe it wasn't fake, but just the older model 66142 which was getting old and that's why it was shutting down! Quite expensive to buy 2 new bulbs to try, maybe you have a friend with some you could try?

As for coding, maybe, but i have not coded for xenon and haven't had a single problem except that old bulb.

I'm in the middle of this process now. I have LCI halogens being replaced with LCI euro xenons. The low beams won't turn on at all! Would I have to tap into the high beam wire and wire it to the low beam? The turn signals and halogen high beam works fine but the ae's, low beams and the three euro leds aren't working at all

This subject has been done in extensive detail on so many threads that I can't possibly go through it again here, it just wouldn't be right.

You'll have to do some searches and read through all the pages before you'll be ready to retrofit those (I did same retrofit also on 2011 328i).

I'll give you a head start - the low beams aren't working because there is nothing connect to it's ground pin (need to jumper the ground), the LEDs won't work because that pin isn't in your harness and you'll have to wire them inside the housing if you want them on. Can't say why the AEs aren't on, but regardless you need to code your car for the new lights anyways. You'll probably find the issue in your NFRM coding.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! The wiring is what I am currently work on. But it's hard to pin point the right wire on the inside of the housing. I was hoping to splice the wires on the car harness like at the beginning of this thread but the pics are down.
I'm going to start by tracing the wires from the headlight housing socket and then connect the ground and the three led to ae's on the inside of the light. wouldn't it just be easier to put a wire tap on pin 2 and pin 4 and just run a small new wire between them on the car side?

got em working! Low beams and ae's all working fine...just got to code out the flickering once the car has started. I left the the three led's unplugged mainly due to time constraints and having to have the car road ready by monday. But i can order new pins from bmw and do a quick splice on the car harness for them if i ever need them. Thanks again for replying and giving me insurance that they'll work.

It looks like you got up to speed pretty quick. You're right, you can always do splices at the harness connector instead, especially once the lights are already installed and not accessible.

You just need the coding, this will fix the flickering (caused by the PWM that is for the original halogen set-up). Change the VO with $522 and code the NFRM in expertmode, then change the AUTO_LWR_ENABLE to nicht_active. Just for your info, I also had to code the DRLs to AE, because they did not default to that on my 2011.

And I turned off some bulb checks just for good measure. My changes are below (after the VO stuff is done).

AUTO_LWR_ENABLE
nicht_aktiv (disable auto level)

KALTUE_SL_1_M1_14_M2_41
nicht_aktiv (disable cold check for AE)

WARMUE_SL_1_M1_14_M2_41
nicht_ativ (disable warm check for AE)

DRL_TFL_MIT_SML_3R
aktiv (enables DRL on AE)

MayMay are you in the bay by any chance? I'll hook it up with some cash if you can help code the ahl module? my cable is broken and dealing with one-stop for replacement..

I have a set of plug and play xenon headlights for a 2006-2008 3 series if anyone is interested. No work no coding simply just install them. Here is my for sale thread.

Thanks

Pictures

The pictures on this thread, I'm assuming because its been so long, aren't available to view. Can you possibly PM them to me or repost them?

Also If anyone has a pair of LCI xenon headlights for sail hit me up.

And one last thing. If I were to get a pair of adaptive xenons, would they still work as nonadaptive headlights to retrofit or do I specifically have to get the nonadaptive ones.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else... Would like to have pictures to reference to make sure I'm cutting the right wires. Anyone have anything?

Seriously, I'll take napkin scribbles at this point.
