American Whites: Paul Hobbs Chardonnay
American Reds: Kosta Browne pinot noir or a blended table wine from Dominus or Pahlmeyer

Too many great wines from Italy and France to have one favorite

Chateaunuf du pape '07, '09 or '10. Stagg's Leap is great. For a daily wine, Magistrate is hands down my favorite. Excellent blend called 'restitution', great cab and merlot.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a town in Rhone, not a particular vineyard or grape

For a great tasting wine that will not break the bank try Candor Merlot
a ripe, full-bodied Merlot. The wine is loaded with ripe plum, blackberry and currant fruit, sweet, nicely integrated tannins, and hints of spice.

It's also the wine appellation in the Southern Rhone town. I use to like Chateauneuf du pape wines from Pegau and Clos des papes but haven't enjoyed them in recent years.

Amazing how many folks have wine cellars that are worth more than m6 gc...

I might need to sell some wine to afford the M3

Great winery. I would drink more of it if it wasn't so damn expensive.

Arrowood is one of my favorites as well. Their prices has been creeping up as well.

I'm not huge on wine, but I did grow up in Guerneville and Sebastopol, CA (AKA Sonoma County or "wine county")... All that aside, I'm more of a beer and liquor kinda guy and ironically the most uninitiated person to ask about wine; throw me a glass of box wine merlot and the award winner with all sorts of colorful adjectives and s**t, and I'd probably never tell them apart but then again I never made it a point to compare them either, so what I consider "good" might warrant a chuckle in my general direction, and mostly go by [higher] price and the advice of getting bottle designs that are not over-the-top.

Anyway, I like Gallo Signature Cabarnet Sauvignon, BV Coastal Riesling, and well... Whatever you toss my way . One recent gem a womanizing friend did tell me about though: For the single fellas or complete n00bs to wine, San Antonio Winery Cardinale is a good date night/beginner wine (if you can call it that, it's sweeter and fruitier than white zinfadel); had some with dates that came over and her inhibitions drop enough to fool around with my ugly mug .

Carmenere, no question it is the "average" aficionado's commercial best, not counting select runs and special premier varieties.

Gato Negro, especially in boxes. Because it works in price/quality ratio for me at least-.
