Get ready to whip out that gas card. I can't get more that 8mpg out of that car.

Wouldn't it be a better overall scientific evaluation of the differences between the two versions to test out Rev. 1 again after a lengthy stint with Rev. 2?

Part of me doesn't want to hassle with the ECU removal and such at this point, with the C63 arriving in March.

that C63 is going to be a lot of fun. I was just about to get one this summer when I was car shopping as the dealer here. The 40 mile commute doesn't really lend itself to that mpg though . The car is a beast.

Let's just hope that they don't or have not already altered the boost in the original version. Let's remember that it is less boost / different timing that we are all concerned about not the throttle response issue.

Either way, it can't hurt to do it because we ca always go back to revision 2 if both versions are now retuned.

I think in a clue might be to figure out if the decision 1 is still not compliant in all 50 states.

If anyone at Dinan is reading... PLEASE don't change anything about the original!!!

I really want to do this but don't want to screw around with the ecu for nothing.
If any of you guys go back to the original Rev1(let's hope it really is REV1) PLEASE post your reviews.
I have a feeling that rev1 is detuned as well, since dinan is saying only throttle response is affected by rev2 and no changes were made otherwise....

Steve is very much aware of these rumours like the one in this post and seemed to find them comical.

I did find out stage III peaks at 14.5 PSI and stronger throughout the whole range than stage II. The strut bar and air intake will be released next year.

Orb

Hmmm, peak boost of 14.5 psi and stronger throughout the whole range, so that's a pretty big difference from Stage II Rev II with a reported detuned peak of 12.8 psi.. so who out there has stage III and how do you like it? And it would be interesting to know if anyone with Stage III had Stage I or II before getting the III and how big a difference is the feel of the power increase?

overpowered idiot.
You should have just gone with JB3 or Vishnu ...

"You are right. I would rather have the power too! I don't want a refund at all. I will keep this tune and enjoy it and hopefully just forget how much better rev1 was
I guess the best case scenario would be that my fuel pump will fail and be replaced under warranty by BMW and all my power will be back with the new pump
Until then, I'll just enjoy my REV2 POWER"

Stay out of threads that you don't have anything useful to contribute to

Well, Dinan keeps the tune so you car doesn't blow turbos and go into limp... pull your head out, stop whining and I will stick around this thread as long as I like as some of the posts are interesting, most, if not all, of yours are whiny.

I've cleaned things up some, but this just serves as a friendly reminder to exclude personal attacks and name-calling from your posts.

Thanks.

Guys,

I just spoke with Chris over at Dinan to try to get the first revision back and he said that the don't want a bunch of people just sending in their computers so they will be posting a procedure shortly.

It's nice to see that the post actually got something accomplished.

Thanks to all who contributed. We still have a ways to go but we are making progress!!!

So you confirmed with Dinan that they detuned their Stage 2 Performance Engine Software?

Well, I suspect there won't be a lot customers electing to go this route.

I will do it, I just don't want to be the guinea pig.
Hopefully someone gets it done and reports back here about whether it really is the ORIGINAL REV1.
Kelvin- You sending out your ecu?

Yes, it's no big deal.

For some reason, the field tool can never communicate with my edu so I always had to send in my edu. This would be my third time but the Shop takes care of the process.

It does suck to be without the car for three days...

Besides that, what do we have to loose?

That won't bother me at all. being in PA it's getting cold/snowy/icy soon and my car will be garaged.
What is holding me up is messing with the ecu. I don't want to F anything up and knowing me, I will.

//going to search for a DIY on ecu removal now
