Well, I checked out the 3M tapes and read their tech info regarding elasticity relative to time and temp. and may decide to go with the Betalink instead, only because I will be tracking it and I don't want the spoiler to come off in the hot sun at speeds. I may use the tape with Betalink by using the tape on the perimeter and a bead of adhesive in the middle of the part. This may be easier for me to put on, plus I won't have to clean up too much of the spill over of Betalink from the edges. This part will be permanent.

Applications of 3M tape:

I'd like to see a picture of the filled-in slit version also. I was going to order the OEM spoiler from the dealer tomorrow, but this spoiler might just change my mind.

The slit version is listed here with a price tag of $200. How much for the non-slit version?

This might be a dumb question, but will the trunk stay open with the spoiler attached (specifically the filled-in slit version which is probably heavier than the slit version)? I ask this as many years ago I installed a spoiler and it was so heavy that the trunk no longer stayed open on its own. What a pain in the a** that was.

Dumb question number 2: What is FRP?

Thanks,
Thor

i had the indent spoiler... it doesnt weigh alot & filling in the indent wouldn't significantly change the weight of the spoiler. i believe the trunk is made out of metal... thus putting on a barely noticable FRP=plastic spoiler will not make a significant difference on those pressure systems that raise the trunk

Thor... without the slit are ones you find on e-bay, mainly an extension of the deck horizontally. This version is a replica of the OEM carbon fiber spoiler, but in a less expensive material and could be painted. This version has more vertical extension thus creating a slight down force at speeds. Due to this down force component, a more aggressive adhesion method is highly recommended.

No, no, I am talking about the replica of the OEM CF spoiler without the slit as requested by someone else on this thread. This is definitely different from the standard OEM spoiler.

Yes. I am looking for a picture of the replica OEM CF spoiler, with the more aggressive vertical extension, but with the rear slit filled in.
Rosa states these this type is available and I think a few of us want to see some pictures, preferably on a car.
Just trying to compare the slit one and non-slit one.

Thx.

Yes, we can filled the slit for our customer if they request. It is the same style as the OEM CF spoiler just with the slit filled.

Very Nice!
How much for the non-slit version?
How long would it take for me to receive one after I place the order to Virginia? I am in no rush, not getting my car until June'ish.

Thank You Rosa!

I think you will be fine using the 3M tape.
I had the E46 M3 spoiler on my older S4 and I used the BMW provided 3M tape to hold it down. I tracked my car numerous times with no issues.
Had the spoiler on there since 2001 until now. I have 182k miles on the S4, which equates to a lot of sun, wind, rain, snow, and whatever, and no issues with the spoiler getting loose.

Where is the best place to order or get the 3M tape anyways?

My CF style painted deck spoiler is on and the fit is excellent. I really like this more agressive shape than the plain OEM style. It may actually create some aerodynamic downforce. I'd like to think the mods I make benefit the performance somehow, rather than just being "cosmetic". Paint job can be improved with more attention to post production care. However, it's nothing I can't fix myself. Beside a little shipping snaffu, the overall experience has been very good.

Sorry for the delay guys ! here is the spoiler i received from Rorsa. The paint job definately need improvement. Mine have many imperfection lines and the colour not quite match !

Is there anything you could do abt it Rorsa ? I still waiting for my 3m tape to arrived. I will see if the colour different is acceptable once i have them install.
