LOL! That would be all over your piping if it wasn't in the OCC.

It may be dependent upon the individual engine, but at the rate mine is catching oil, it will probably be a good while before the oil is even high enough to reach the dipstick. I had to shine a flashlight down in there to see it.

I'm just glad it's working and keeping my intake track clean.

Thanks again for this thread and writeup.

I installed my BSH catch can using the guide this morning, pretty accurate and worked good to guide me through the process.

The only PITA I see is when it is full of oil, having to unmount the can and empty it...hope that isn't often. Screws/bolt is at a weird angle and almost lost it when putting the can on.

Otherwise, quality CC and looks stock. Hope my dealer doesn't have a cow about it.

I bet it would't be hard to siphon the oil out of the dipstick area if you wanted to keep it mounted.

I just installed my can yesterday. Anybody else have a problem with how the brass fitting is still lose if put into the angle facing passanger side? That angle seems best to attach the hose for a smooth flow.

If screwed in tight the angle is toward the driver's side firewall and the hose gets pinched. I decided to loctite the fitting in the better angle hope this holds without leaking.

First I would like to say this was a great write up by Former_Booosted_IS.

Just had a few things to add.

The passenger side PCV connector was an absolute pain to remove and took the majority of the install time. As mentioned in the DIY, it is a square clip that snaps on all four sides. My best advice to get this off without breaking it is to keep steady/strong pressure on it while taking a flat heat to each side. If you don't, the opposite sides will just snap back into place. Releasing the bottom clip was the most difficult due to the lack of room. I started at the top, moved on to the left and right, and finished with the bottom clip.

I also struggled getting the connectors off the stock hose. I ended up heating each end with a hair dryer and that allowed them to slide off with ease.

And just a tip when mounting the bracket...as you will see there is little room to bolt the bracket down to the heat shield. To create more room, I unclipped the washer fluid hose and pushed it down and away. This gave me a lot more space to tighten this bolt down.

My car is experiencing a good amount of blow-by. I have taken my chargepipe off a couple of times now and there is always a little oil dripping out of it. Hopefully this OCC will eliminate that.

does it matter what postion the hoses are installed on the oil catch can? Or is there an arrangement of input / output ?

You cut it to fit. It's written in FBIS's DIY. Pruning shears, heavy duty scisors, or box cutters will work fine.

sorry for beating a dead horse. but just trying to make sure i dont make a mistake on install. The OP didnt do this from scratch since he just replaced the RR occ. So the part about the hose cutting is where i get lost.
I have one hose that i assume now you have to cut into 2 seperate pieces?
Out of curiosity, where exactly does the OEM PCV in and outlets go? they have a hose directly between them keeping them connected?

thanks..

The BSH kit comes with one hose which you will need to cut into two separate pieces.

As far as the OEM hose that is connected together, you don't need to use that piece anymore. Keep it somewhere safe, just incase you decide to go back to stock.

Hope that helps!

Got my BSH OCC in. It was pretty easy except that the packings are fragile.
Had one come to me shipped broken, and during install another one broke. Found some replacement packings that aren't an exact fit and i don't have piece of mind with the connections. How would i know if one of these lines popped off from the PCV/s ? Also, how much pressure goes through them anyways? Did a test run after install and all seemed good. maybe have to check for leaks in a week or 2.

Oh yea, i also dropped a screw under the ECU .. lmao. completely removed and reinstalled the entire ECU for the second time. Gettin good at it.

did all this then completely detailed my entire car , wash and wax strip, DA polish, carnuba wax.. im sore..
