This thread is so full of bullshit. Some people need to stop being assholes and give the guy a break. Everyone assumes so much that the thread turns into a douche-fest rather than an advice-giving thread, which is what this was meant to be.

That's why these threads fail.
Like my dating advice thread that I did as a joke. You can't ask for advice on any forum. Try at BF.C... Unless it's regional. |

the guy's just asking for what mods you'd recommend, not whether he deserves to have a 335 at 17. if your parents have the money and offered you a car, you wouldn't take it? some people on this forum think the 3 series is some sort of pseudo-godlike machine when it's only an entry level bmw. big fucking deal.

Well it's nice to have a cool car at 17, but there's a huge responsibility with it. Especially a 300+ hp car. If I were in your shoes, I would get something cheaper, and save my money towards a good college/university. Just my .02 cents.

Since your 17, I think the only mods you should do to your car is exterior mods...Performance mods are not needed as the car is already fast enough...Get some rims and some CF parts and your set...

I don't think the kid is getting the car now, he's not getting it till he's 19... That's two years from now.
As for those who recommended performance upgrades, I think that's foolish. IF this is to be his first car, wouldn't it make more sense to get used to the performance the car has already, instead of adding to it? Not saying he will wrap the car around a tree, but if you've never driven a performance vehicle before, why add more power to something your not used to? OP, my recommendation is to save that money until you actually do get the car (IN two years) IF your going to buy a used/certified 335, then all the better. Once you get the car, see how it performs, see how the ride quality and all that. After driving for 3-6 months, if you think you need to improve on it's ride characteristics, then you know you need to spend some money to improve it. IF you feel you need more performance, then start looking at the various tunes and choose the right one for you, as well as the other performance mods available. Don't buy mods now, since your still two years out, and get a feel for the car before you start adding to it. You may find that the stock car is fine for you, and don't need any additional mods, but you may also get bit by the mod bug... But better to wait and see.
