did this JB4 vs Cobb comparison back early April in 93 degree weather at Cobb's facility.

Mods: ETS, DCI and 93 Octane

facility was impressive - nice and clean and everyone looked as if they were having a great time. friendly environment with smiling faces all around.

got strapped on the dyno and away we went.

1st set of pulls were JB4 Map 1 on 14psi: average of 311whp and 350wtq
2nd set of pulls were JB4 Map 0 stock boost: average of 251whp and 290wtq
3rd set of pulls were Cobb Stage 1 on 15.5psi: average of 326whp and 385wtq

sorry for the "picture" graphs but i didn't get the screen shots emailed to me - just the logs.

Thanks for the comparisons. It seems that Cobb consistently slams down the AFR to about a constant 12 after 2900 RPM, whereas the JB4 stage 1 gradually reduces AFR starting a little later at around 3000 RPM, and whereas stock only gradually gets to 13. Isn't this the reason why Cobb fuel mileage suffers so much above 3000 RPM?

maybe, but it's a give and take.

i'll gladly lose a couple mpg's if it means that my car is running much safer A/F's.

that was worth it to me and it was one of the reasons why i switched.

on the gauge it was reading more like 14.

either way, consistent 12 A/F's at 15.5psi on the Cobb is more comfortable to me than high 13 A/F's at 14psi from JB4.

p.s.
i didn't try MAP2 because Terry said "MAP2 is too agressive for some cars".

i wasn't about to risk it.

is there a huge difference in what you'll see on the dyno with these cars between 3rd gear and 4th gear pulls?

335i E90 6MT Cobb Stg 1 Aggressive w/ exh from dp back (secondary cat deleted)

All files are 93 octane. Both "runfile" pulls are baseline numbers w/ the same exhaust but without the Cobb. The dyno equip was having issues with it's climate box which is why I posted both uncorrected and corrected.

Had Terry review my logs and apparently had some issues during the run. Overshot boost, meth turned off, and it switched to map 0. Going to do some logging on the road as he stated the dyno could be causing some issues. Once I can do that may head back to a Dynojet and see what the numbers look like...just for kicks.

Dinan uses 93 octane in all of their dyno tests. No idea where you got that info on race fuel from. You can find out more information than anyone needs to ever know about dyno testing and how Dinan does it at http://www.dinancars.com/university/ and then click on the "Dynamometer Testing and The Modern BMW Engine" link. They use a chassis dyno that bolts directly to the wheel hub to get the most accurate dyno numbers possible. There's no better way to measure it accurately. They also use fans that flow 38,000 cfm of air flow @ 75 MPH. That's a lot of air. The fans are normally used in high rise ventilation systems. Go to 4:15 seconds in this video and see what I mean... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM0XrRR3EzU

It's extremely possible that your HPFP/injectors/DME OEM software/Low pressure fuel sensor was faulty/failing and contributed to your low #'s. I'm assuming your car has the required factory oil cooler for the stage II Dinan tune? Not all N54's have them, just in case you/your dealer hadn't noticed that yet.
