ACT street clutch is in with a resurfaced stock dual mass flywheel...only thing to say so far is that I'm really glad to have a chatter free car again with stick like smooth engagement...clutch engages about the same place as the ceramic fx400 but it's much smoother...obviously holding capacity is less on paper but will probably work just fine for now...

ClutchMasters haven't come back to me yet on the cause for the fx400 failure..

Response from Luis@ClutchMasters today, should know more Monday:

====
"We send the flywheel out to the machine shop to be tested for hardness on the input shaft because there was some wear on the input shaft that could of been coused by a bad pilot bearing or a soft input shaft on the flywheel . I should get the result by Monday"

I'm at around 350km with it and haven't pushed it once yet...all my shifts were well below 4k so far...how long do you guys think I should break it in for? Its seen quite a bit of both highway and city driving...i was thinking another 100km (60miles) and then hammer it..

Its MUCH smoother than CM fx400 but they're different beasts...I'd say the ACT is almost like my stock clutch engagement wise and really is a pleasure to daily drive which I can't say for the fx400

I was calm with mine for about 500 miles before I got on it so you're doing the right thing.

I was running over 440 wheel ft pounds of torque with no issues.

So, overall, how does this feel vs. stock in stop in go traffic - if you can remember that far back in your clutch saga

If you're asking about ACT it feels almost like stock but I think its mostly because of the stock dual mass flywheel being there...with the CM kit its not just the clutch disk/pressure plate that was changed, you have to change the flywheel out to a single mass aluminum (much lighter than stock dual mass, 16lb vs. 35lb)...CM doesn't recommend running any of their clutches (except the fx100 I think which is similar to the ACT on paper) with the dual mass flywheels

Yeah I was asking about the ACT. I may hit up Mr.5 for his clutch. Thanks for being another guinea pig I'm not about to run any clutch besides the ACT at this time. I have my reasons people - also, I'm no expert

True testing starts Sunday so don't quote me on it yet...haven't pushed the car once since it was installed...however for daily driving this clutch WITH the stock dual mass flywheel is as smooth as stock..one piece of advice is if you're changing a clutch make sure to change out the pilot bearing as well along with the throwout bearing and fork

Good news from ClutchMasters today, they'll warranty the whole kit. They believe that a bad pilot bearing might've caused premature failure as they noticed some wear on the flywheel's shaft that slides into the pilot bearing on the tranny input shaft. They (Luis) was nothing short of amazing to deal with and having read some horror customer service stories from other companies (e.g. SPEC) ClutchMasters really impressed with their no hassle execution. My new fx400/flywheel are on their way and I look forward to installing it back on the car when the time comes...really glad I went with them now and glad this is now finally dealt with...also have to give props to Chad@STETT Performance, whom i got the CM kit from, for being a very helpful vendor and initiating the warranty process with CM...

As far as my ACT street clutch and resurfaced clutch go I've got about 1000km on it with nothing but butter smooth operation and I'm really impressed with it...due to bad weather it hasn't yet seen any extensive high boost pulls but soon enough...thanks Encinitas!

DSS axles are working out great as well with almost 5000km on them now...thanks FBIS!

Their warranty doesn't cover labour related, it's clearly stated in their policy...I paid 350 to get it put in so that's ok for me in this case..to get the ACT put in I did it with a buddy of mine on ramps..

I'm happy as it turned out as fair to both sides as it could have I think given they didn't find anything wrong with their kit and still decided to warranty it due to premature wear..
