However, by saying the HPF is that much better than others quality wise and customer support wise, everyone knows that's a bogus claim. Yes it is top quality, but every exhaust out there in the $1300 range has perfect welds, top quality SS and best fabrication. Bottom line: The 'quality' of the HPF exhaust is NOT better than other top systems. Two shops and two fabricators can make identical parts of identical quality.

It is actually all about image and brand positioning.

I really don't understand how anyone on this forum thinks this exhaust would've been priced differently considering how they price their other products for the e46 M3. On every car forum I've been in, there have ALWAYS been the people that get the most expensive/rarest part just to say they have it. I do not think this will be any different here.

The costs to build this exhaust are more than a few people here might expect. There is very little profit margin in it at this price point. 3.5" USA 304 stainless is not cheap along with everything else that this exhaust system includes. Decreasing our costs to produce a product is always a consideration for us, but we won't compromise on performance or quality. We set the high bar with a lot of our products and I feel this one is no exception. We have looked at the competition for 335i exhausts, from AMS, Borla, Active Autowerke, and several others. We feel we made a lot of improvements over those exhaust systems and many of them are priced the same as ours. But it is really up to the consumer whether they want ours or our competitors or they want to build their own.

The exact price is on our site if you want to look or PM me. This thread is in the tuning section so pricing isn't allowed.

If the price is too high and that upsets you then dont purchase it. The amount of time HPF puts into their custom pieces and R&D, dyno testing, fitment, quality, etc is well above the bar compared to the majority of tuners and fabricators in the market. If you want the best then you are going to have to pay for it. The folks at HPF are purely dedicated to products that work and work better than any other piece that is out on the market. If you want lower cost, then you will need to sacrifice the amount of detail and perfection that will come out of part (no matter who makes it).

There is a reason that other folks attempt to match HPF products.

there are a lot of catback exhausts that don't drone.

once the catless downpipes are thrown in, it's a different story. i wonder how this exhaust sounds then. would hate to butcher up the midpipes by adding resonators

I came to a realization last night, why am I gonna dump 25k into my car(already have roughly 10k in it, so another 15k. Yes those are my estimates, I can show anyone the breakdown if they would like) and have no one back it and make 500whp with meth and running the piss out of the upgraded twins?? Im not, im worried about reliability and longevity of the car. I will be keeping this car for a number of years to come. HPF will back their product 100%. Upgarded twins and meth will only get you but so far. I am going to wait and save up for the "mac daddy" kit...HPF stage (x). Im finally going balls out on my car, the satifaction will be SO much greater IMO. To each his own.
Couldn't agree with you more

Chris please ignore any negativity in this thread. Thank you again for selecting the 335 platform as your next project horsepower freak.

This exhaust is awesome! And I love the fact that we will be able to piece together a single turbo upgrade since the 335 comes turbod from the factory, unlike the E46 M which requires you purchase the entire kit at once.

HPF is the cream of the crop when it comes to BMW performance and is the reason I will hold on to my car for the longterm. At this point when do you project that we will see your proto single turbo 335 on the dyno, maybe summertime?

How do you know this is the best/What are you comparing it with? I'm not HPF lover and I'm not seeing a Dyno graph yet.

6-9 months, just got off the phone with them an hour ago. The rhd m3 is taking up a lot of the engineers time

After reading this thread then checking the HPF website I wasn't expecting that kind of pricing.......guess the dynos and video will tell us if it's really worth it or not.

By the way, all of you who are using the "HPF's prices are high because they make the best quality product" A lot of competitors can and do make the same quality product but do not have the brand name that HPF does...so their pricing MUST be much lower to make up for it. They know they cannot compete with HPF if they price similarly.

Post videos?

Again, I love hpf what they did with the e46 m3 was amazing. Paying top dollar for a whole kit that involves taking out an engine, installing a turbo, ecu, meth, etc is understandable. There is a lot of mechanical failures that one has to look at. Lots of testing there. But a pipe is a pipe.
