you rotate the grey part, not the hose itself, and it can take a bit of force, counter clockwise BTW, dont put your finger on top of the tabs btw, put them on the opposite side that your trying to turn it and push on the sides of the grey tabs

Man, I think mine is stuck. I pinched the Arrow things and twisted and it won't come off. My fingers are all red ok. I'll try it again later.

Anyone here still has their BOV set up this way? Any long term results or feedback?

YOu should be fine using it with no ill to the car. I installed an AA BOV since I wanted more sound coming out of the turbos.

so i did it this morning, well only half way, but sadly i broke the grey-ish part. does anyone know the part # so i can go buy 2 just incase i break the other one? i was only able to to the front one i still need to do the back one. so far it sounds prett good, but i def. want to see how it would sound with the other one out as well.

some of you guys just press it with your fingers. i had to use a pair of players and still had a hard time with it. i can't imagine how someone would be able to just use fingers for something like this. thanx in advance

So, does that also mean installing a real BOV is going to ruin the car? The installation of the real one involves changing many of the same things as the free-bee.

I keep blowing my caps (not pipe caps, but a different kind) off the diverter hoses. The tape turns to GUM as soon as the heat hits it.

Last night we bought 3/4" pipe caps and for the life of me I cant get it to fit. Are you sure thats the right size? Regardless, i think its going to pop it out of the hole as soon as I get on it.

Cars throwing an engine malfunction light every day now. Oh, btw, I have BOV so maybe I can just hook the diverter hose back up again since the diverters are hooked to each other eliminating them from opening.

Any thoughts or responses to the questions?

OMG, I've lurked as long as I can stand it, you turbo newbs are blowing my mind.

First of all, if you have caps over ANY piping that sees pressure, you've done it wrong. It sounds to me like you have capped off the ends of the tubing that comes off the DVs themselves rather than the "nubs" of the intake piping that the DV hosing attaches to The hosing from the Diverter valves must be free to atmosphere, the caps are there to plug the holes where the hosing used to attach to the intake plumbing and nothing more.

Also, LOL @ the "BMW engineering" when it comes to DV venting on a MAP based car. Frankly, I think "BOVs" on a 50k BMW are the absolute ultimate in rice, but thats not the point. There's NO rocket science behind the very simple recirculation setup that BMW has on the car. In fact, I'm curious to see how long the Bosch valves make it, they like to tear diaphragms all the time on low boost 1.8Ts and the like.

The vast majority in this thread need to learn a LOT more before they go running around giving "advice" to others.

I never came back and corrected this post. I started a new one and made clear that the verbage was incorrect. Im capping the "inlet" side where the diverter hose was plugged in.

They arent blowing off, I suppose they are just POPPING off when the tape heats up. Then, it leaks, and I throw a light. The question was to those who have capped this. How are you capping it and keeping it sealed?

The diverter valves are free to the atomsphere but are NOT functional right now. They dont need to be since the BOV is doing its job. The vacuum line off one diverter is plugged into the vacuum line on the other rendering them useless and keeping them from opening. No problemo there.

I understand the concept, I just dont understand how these people think tape and a 52c pVC cap are the answer

Ok, gotcha. I was seriously cracking up here imagining the caps in the DV vent tubes themselves Glad you got it taken care of.

Ive tried it, it makes a sound. I used a rubber pipe cap and clamped it, but i only removed the front one not the rear,

Anydownside?

Does anybody Engine light appear when doing this, mine didnt but i only drove it around the block.

The idle seems to dip down and up, and it seems like the valve is constantly leaking at the end of the hose even at idle..

If this is messing somthing up some please tell me so i can plug it back in.

thanks

You always get what you pay for.
The diverter valves are included in the 50K you've already paid for them.

Its an internal combustion engine not rocket science. People modify Porsche, Ferrari whatever, its all relative.

I'm gonna try this today nice DIY thanks Red Star Rising.

im not sure about that...

on one hand it shouldn't really make a difference even if the other is opening and recirculating air into turbo #2s intake since they both charge the same piping so theres no pressure difference between the cylinders

but on the other hand, i just wouldn't want it happening

but after the thread about the BOV adapters, this brings up something, why not disconnect and cap the vacuum line too the other one and leave it connected and just DC the one hose; one louder/longer noise, more primal lion growl

might make it easier for people like (i forgot who) who end up with boost leaks after proceed to only have to switch out one spring, bleh which reminds me of another question
