Dp or not

Rob can you clarify this for all of us? I like, many others on here thought there would be a stage 1.5 map for FMIC intake and stage 2 for FMIC intake DP catback. Are you saying that you can run the stage 2 maps you were talking about with stock DP? I have plenty of warranty left and wasn't planning on getting DP yet. I did get the FMIC/DCI just for stage 1.5 though.

Proper way of using meth. It's been reiterated many times on the forums... water/meth should be used for its cooling benefits and not relied upon octane only for overly aggressive maps that might have detrimental effects on the engine if not working properly.

We taper boost past 5k due to the baby turbo guys. Pushing it hard up there is like spitting water though a straw. The exahust manifold pressure peaks at 45-55psi past 5.5k RPM when trying to run 18psi out there. The data says the turbos are out of air and will self descruct if you keep pushing it. Not something we want for a pump stage 2 or stage 2 + FMIC map. Stock turbos will run 18psi all day long in the lower RPM range.

Here is a run down of the maps Clap has:
Stage 2 - Requires downpipes with a recomendation for a intake and catback (especially the 135i and 535i)
Stage 2+FMIC - Requires downpipes and a FMIC with a heavy recomendation for a intake and catback (especially the 135i and 535i)

Each of these will come in the following flavors:
"Drive" as in a nice daily driver map for those that just want a little bump in power with stock rev limits.
"Sport" as in a sporty map with a bit more power than "Drive".
"Aggressive" as in a map that turns the car into a fire breathing hotrod (Recommended 93 Octane).

Cheers,
Rob
I'm excited. Can't wait to see what Stage2+FMIC translates to on the strip. I'll be purchasing a Cobb AP real soon.

You can run stage 2 maps with catted dp's. I have catless midpipe with ar catted dp's and it works just fine. I thought I had an issue with the stage 2 alpha but it turned out to be a cracked vacuum line by the oil filter housing. As clap said earlier, Stage 2 maps are smooth. The folks waiting for the finale release will be happy with the results.

From a layman's perspective (regardless of numbers and so on), just the ease of install/deinstall makes it greatly worth it - and the butt dyno will definitely make up for the rest. I can't comment on whether one is better than the other *technically* (I'll leave that to Clap and dzenno, among others), but the lack of anything physical to install makes it worth it already

For stage 2, FMIC and catted or not catted DP are physical requirements.
Can't argue that above bolt-ons are not needed for running 18psi without major reliability concerns.

Unless you mean the tune.

Can you run catless DPs with stock cat-back? Will 18PSI be too aggressive for this setup?

Sorry, meant tune. Is there anyone in this thread with no mods? This is the stg2 thread, hehe.

No logs but stage 2+ aggressive is fast as hell. There is a ton of power in the midrange - felt a bit of timing pull because I had a half tank of 91 and the other half 94 but car was an absolute beast on the highway. Low rmp drivability is similar to the 300v maps which are pretty good - there is lots of boost down low for what its worth. I think stage 2 has lots of potential - hope to post some logs soon, need another set of hands.....

Do you have an automatic or manual?

Rob,

Can you clarify the intake requirement? Will any DCI do? I'm guessing your blog post that shows the superiority of the stock air box doesn't hold for stage 2 cars?

http://blogs.cobbtuning.com/2011/06/...ir-box-vs-dci/

Thanks

Couldn't you technically put a stage 2 map on even without any additional mods? Its software so it won't be able to tell if you have DCI or FMIC or DPs will it?

Your car will pull timing for not having the correct breathing characteristics for a given map.
