Hey Gents,

as we are talking GT-R Skylines, I thought I would post up some pics of Peter's old promotional vehicle/workshop toy.

It has been sitting under a car cover in the Advan performance workshop basement for the best part of 2 years, but Pete dragged it up as he had a prospective buyer for it.

Unfortunately after spending quite a few hours doing a "conservative" tune on the vehicle the sale feel through.

Anyway I hope you like the pics,

feel free to fire away questions you may have on the build specs of the car.

Hey mate,

I am glad you like the pics, the vehicle is in fact a R33, I was thinking of another one of Peter's cars when I wrote R34.

My bad, it's 2:30am here, time for bed or another coffee.

With regards the colour it does indeed look much better in person, but it's not for everyone as it was built back in 2000 and tastes do change.

Here are a few more pics.

Cheers,

JD.

Nice, wonder how this would stack up against UGR Lambos and how fast at the Texas mile? This GTR has 900whp:

Hey guys,

thank you all for your positive comments.

I will make sure to pass your praise onto Pete.

Here are a few more pics, once again they are only taken with a camera phone, unfortunately most of the pics I have taken do not do the Gracer justice.

Cheers,

JD.

Prior FBO 335 guy here, current GTR owner. The GTR is probably my most favorite car to date that I've owned. It has all the interior doodads and gizmos of the BMW, with the performance of a super car. Mine has no rattles, and has been perfect with respect to reliability at 21k on the clock now. I have downpipes, injectors, and 3" intakes waiting to go on the car and after a custom tune it should be good for middish 10 second pass at around 131-132 mph on regular 93 (I'm also adding fuel pumps and probably E85 capability, not completely convinced on that right now, bumps traps up to 135 or so). I'm very pleased with the performance. I like that the power can actually be put down on the street. I'm a TOTAL manual transmission snob, but the gearbox really fits this car and once you are making a lot of power, it's amazing how fast it snaps through the gears. A single turbo 335 will probably be faster over 100 mph, but if the 335 spins at all...it's toast. The GTR is so SO fast to 100, and once the GTR gets a lead there's usually not much coming back. I ran a 6.9 @ 101 in the eighth with just an extremely conservative off the shelf flash and a midpipe. I did road race my 335 a bit, but it was not modded very much in that department, so obviously it isn't even a comparison.

I am glad to see continued development of this platform however. It has been interesting to watch the development over the past 3 years I've been gone.

Hi Gents,

the 609 rwhp pull was done on 98 RON fuel, which is equivalent to your 93 MON I believe.

The badass twins you see are Mitsubishi TD06H-20g turbos.

These turbos were rebuilt exclusively for Advan, to custom specs by Trust.

The Trust built turbo kit was never made available to the public.

Back in the day before Peter downsized the business, Advan Performance was the Australasia distributor for Trust components, hence "the love" from Trust.

Here is a quote from Pete regarding the current state of tune of the engine and its true capability.

"From 350kw at the lowest boost setting to 450+kw with current waist gate spring ie 12psi to 22psi.
With the old engine we have made 560kw @ 26psi on C16.
This new engine is more capable and can run more, but i see no need.
Max boost up to 30psi.
Max rpm 9500, i use 8500 no need to run it harder."

FYI guys,

560 rwKw is equivalent to 750 rwhp and I should add that is on a DynoDynamics dyno, which most will agree, read quite a bit lower than a Dynojet.

I have detailed list of engine components if anyone is interested, as the engine was spec'd up and assembled in-house by Peter himself.

Cheers,

JD.

I really enjoyed my Z06 quite a bit. It is a fantastic car, and the performance bargain of the century. They are so freakin fast for 500 hp, it's ridiculous. Insurance and maintenance are incredibly inexpensive for the caliber of car. Fuel economy was also amazing, it would easily average 27-28 on the hwy. The Z06 is a totally different experience than the GTR. You obviously have to drive the Z06 much differently than the GTR, and at times it feels like it wants to kill you....but that's part of the fun Where the GTR is smooth, and calculated, the Z06 is a little skittery and tail happy. The Z rode much better than the GTR. Interior noise is a bit louder in the GTR also due to the crazy 20" runflats and the huge tread segments.

The interior isn't fantastic in the Z as we all know. The GTR's is better, maybe just a tick below a G37. To me, it feels a lot like a really fast, AWD G37 once you are in it. I didn't have any issues with quality of the Z's interior, though obviously it could be better. The Z06 was kind of hard to have a lot of fun on the street with because just taking it to the top of second gear was over 90 mph. It was also very loud once the exhaust valves opened. The wagging of the rear end to nearly 100 mph would also induce unwanted attention

I think the C7 Z is going to be an awesome car. I look forward to checking it out. I know GM is going to work wonders on the interior. Now if they can just drop the age demographic of the typical owner a decade or two

Nice car history! My buddy is torn between a GTR and C63 and I'm torn between that or a Z06. I know the GTR is an easy car to drive but I almost rather have the raw power of the z06, atleast right now. It's nice to hear a real person (and not some motor trend type journalist) talking about the difference.
