I installed my kit, and it looks great.
One question: Whenever I turn on my lowbeam for the first time after turning on the engine, I get the lowbeam out error msg for about 10 to 15 seconds and it disappears. When I check the system, it says "Check OK". And after that, the error msg doesn't appear anymore when I turn on the lowbeam. Is it how the EDM is supposed to work? Or did I install it incorrectly? If I have installed it incorrectly, shouldn't the error msg stay on? (with ! inside the triangle sybmol)

Yes. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds for the EDM to clear up the error message. I removed the EDM from the circuit to see how it goes, and it seems that the car's system shuts off power if the EDM is not attached. So yes the EDM is working, but it just takes 15 to 20 seconds to get in action.
And I just learned this from Andy today. Do not install your EDM near the heat source.

![]() But once you get used to it, it's not that annoying. haha, I don't know. A little beep sound reminds me that my lowbeam is on. And the error msg quietly disappears. ![]()

^Response to your PM on its way.
--------------------------------------------- To clear a few things up. The error message appearing initially is NORMAL operation in some cases. The reason for this is the EDMs work in conjunction with the vehicle sensors instead of just bypassing them altogether. This means that if you were to have a bulb go out, the EDM alone would not continuously bypass the computer and an error message would appear on the dash. The reason the light goes on for a short period of time has to do with the increased voltage used when the system checks are performed. If the EDM was to match this voltage without the bulbs on and provide a constant no bulb out, there would be no way of allowing it to accurately show if a bulb was really out. I hope this makes sense- if not feel free to ask questions. Also, because of the temperamental nature of the BMW OBC, we always suggest soldering when possible to bypass the plastic connectors used to make the kit completely PnP. This is at the discretion of the user but will guarantee that the current travels smoothly if you encounter sporadic issues. |

It seems like EDM is not working properly because when I removed EDM, my system also turned off the headlight that didn't have EDM attached.
