I wouldn't be concerned. Lots of people have their radar detectors hard wired in. I think you'll be fine.

i know this sounds insane... but what are the chances of "complaining" and trying to get a 2013 128i because of the recall?

i love my 2011 128i M Package, but i was just wondering, because i really want the bmw navi and cold weather package since i moved from Miami to NYC.

You want a new car because a battery connectors might degrade over time?!?

What could be more American than feeling entitled to something for free (unjust enrichment), when someone else makes a mistake?

Wondering if this issue might have anything to do with my battery discharge warning(s).

Dealer first told my to lock my car when it's in the garage. Then when it happened again a month later the dealer says that I "don't drive enough to fully charge the battery". I find that hard to believe with a 9.7 mile ~20 minute commute each way each day. Lets just say my Audi A4 never had a problem in 4+ years with an "old" battery but the brand new BMW has issues in less than 2 years.

Doesn't go under the Hood at all.

My guess is the old procedure is quite expensive because they replace
the whole cable due to the burnt connector on the end. I bet now they
are supplying tools to cut the old connector off and attach a new one
instead.

Posting 75 has the pdf's
I have a question that may make me sound a little ignorant and when it comes to wiring like this, I am a little lol

Anyway downloading the pdf's in post 75 and just seeing the wiring of the battery cable to the fuse box. The first thing that came to mind was when I installed an amplifier on my truck, the instructions are clear to keep speaker and power wire routes seperate from eachother or it can cause interference.
So with a thick battery cable carrying power through it in a harness of other wires that I couldn't imagine what they are for. Couldn't that cause some sort of interference? Shouldn't the battery cable be routed by itself?

Just a recall.

Make an appointment and get it fixed next month.

Done, enjoy your BMW.

Easy! You just have to pay the difference between trade-in on your car and the price of the new one! I'm sure they will happily perform the recall on the new one before you pick it up.

Bottom of an email I recieved from BMW North America today:

"If you have previously paid for these repairs, you may be eligible for reimbursement under the TREAD Act. Please present copies of your owner notification letter and the previously paid invoice to your local authorized BMW center. They will be able to perform an inspection of the part in question and submit the necessary paperwork to begin the process of potential reimbursement."

This is funny, probably why the clock went out and on my car and other misc. electrical issues. The idiots at my dealer said that my two year old brand new battery is bad and I desperately need a new one, with an estimated cost of $400.00.

For one, BMW batteries do not die in 2 years, so no thanks. I'll wait for the recall and have the wife drop it off to have it fixed, I'm sure that'll fix the issue or they can replace the battery as well while they are at it.

lol, he meant to add another zero, it's $1,000.00. Sad that a few helpless souls assumed this guy would sue BMW over a $1.00.

Damn I have my Dynavin and power seat retrofit wired into the passenger side fuse box. Guess ill have to remove the wiring or wire them elsewhere before I bring it in. I wonder if they would care if I left it wired into the fuse??
