Sorry for bringing up an old dead thread, but was any solution found for this problem? I hve my 2007 E90 335i in the shop right now and those guys are having a problem getting the pipes installed. I've talked to Tiago and the shop and hopefully its an easy solve without removing the sctructural support - I'd hate to think I'm out all this money for an upgraded catback exhaust just to have to go back to stock

You have to remove the support, it's been documented a few times. The only way to make it fit with the support is to have the pipes cut and rewelded to fit.

This is a really old thread but there is good info here...

+1 on this. I was confused as to why it didn't fit and then I found the posts about needing a spacer.

At first I also made a 1/4" spacer from some aluminum bar that I had in the garage. I think it is enough to be safe, it did push up on the gas tank a little so I decided to go with a 3/8" spacer.

I had some other things being made at the waterjet shop so I quickly drew up a spacer in CAD and had a couple of sets made:

It now sits just below the gas tank without compressing it. The spacer also means that the original bolts can be put back in the outer 2 bolt holes so they are plugged and don't get rusty.

I have one more set if anyone wants one send me a PM.
