He's a straight shooter, but my guess is he'd prolly only confirm what you already know.

I just dont understand BMWs unwillingness to pay for a repair. It clearly is not buildup on the valves, so wtf is going on

That was my main thing too...seems that this chassis and the E46M are pretty good given you do your maintenance, change oil often, and perform your inspections/valve adjustments. The M Coupes were known to rattle out their engine bolts but that has been addressed. I've got warranty until June...and honestly don't think I'll extend it. I've heard horror stories of dealer stupidity, if I am gonna pay for an extended warranty, might as well just pay a reputable shop to do it right and not fight you every step of the way.

i hear you on that, but even then, this problem that I am having is unbelievable. I really dont know what to say or do, aside from sit and wait, since orders are coming directly from bmw now. I am sure they know its not carbon buildup on the valves, that just doesnt start a violent shudder one day, nor does it cause vibration through the shifter on deceleration.

WTF do I have to do to get them to understand this

Sorry if I missed the post...what do you mean shudder...describe? You seem certain its engine or drivetrain related...is it speed or rpm dependent?

Its definitely in front of the guibo.
RPM dependant, only happens when the car is warmed up, clutch in or clutch out, shudder is just above idle and shakes the whole car, vibration is felt in clutch pedal during high rpm shifting (vibrator on my foot), and on deceleration in gear (vibrating shifter, high frequency). Mounts check out OK

That's strange...didn't VANOS problems kinda have symptoms like that but more around 4-5k where it changes cams? Would be really weird to have a VANOS failure you only notice just above idle...

That would also throw fault codes (no codes whatsoever), and would lunch my valves. They retimed the motor completely and it was AOK, Leakdown <1%, perfect compression
