His work order says installed E89X-08-09-515 that's v31 as far as I know.

Wow, Quisp, that was freaky!

Anyway, yeah Cobu I know that number was on there. I was just really reaching and mostly kidding with that idea. But hell, what's stopping some knucklehead from just typing those digits (of the supposed V31) into Pavel's work order and printing it like that. Granted, that would be turrible. Just turrible.

I think you're ready for your Lasik man. Seems as though you're fighting your fears by bringing humor to this painful thread in last couple of days.

good luck though !

Pretty interesting as it seems he might have the new update installed already. It would be nice to know his previous software version and if he has a copy of his work order .
This gives me a slight hope i might be getting the v31 update right now as we speak. He said the car was being updated right now.

SA told me to pick up the car in 3 hours so we will find out.

Do i ask for the DME printout? or What do i ask for to see what progman i was updated to?

Thanks

Did you have lag before? Let us know how v31 changes things. I have this fear that it doesn't do much for it!

They could have castrated our cars as a tourniquet for failing turbos, waste gates & fuel pumps while they worked on a better solution. Just a thought. I doubt that they wanted to bastardize the car.

Which is why they've been in denial this whole time, right?

Well I'm not ready to start entertaining conspiracy theories just yet but if v31 does indeed solve the problem then I dont care if BMW covered up Roswell and shot JFK too...

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying that their denial of turbo lag somehow means that v29.2 wasn't a temporary band-aid fix?

They'll have been in denial because to admit it leaves them open to claims for damages. Quite why it's so hard to get updates done is a mystery. If V31 fixes the lag I bet BMW will still not admit it ever existed.

Agreed. And of course they'll never admit it. This would just tarnish their integrity and jeopardize potential sales. Hush, hush.

Not necessarily, but it would be nice if they were more upfront with their customers. Rather sneaky either way, no?

I must say that the BMWNA rep I spoke to this week did acknowledge the lag and did speak of a software update that should address it. He did mention that it should already be in place on the 08 models, so either he was misled or they still aren't telling us the real story.

It's definitely sneaky. No doubt about it. Sadly though, it's business. Which personally will have some influence on my decision as to what my next automotive purchase will be.

....Warning! This post will disappoint because there was nothing on my receipt....

I got my car back last night with an alleged v31 upgrade and an alignment. The alignment was on the receipt but nothing else. I asked the SA and he said that "that's just something they input" and made a typing motion with his hands.

When I got in the car I expected to see some kind of indication that the software was uploaded (ie reset clock, radio stations, seat positions) but nothing. When I drove off the lot the car really does feel different, but at this point I may have gotten the placebo. With the car in D, with very little input to the gas pedal (as what took a lot more before) the car put me and my wife in the seat. There was still a little lag, but what I feel was a lot less than before. I drove it around the block for about a 1/4 tank of gas, starting and stopping, trying different modes, going manual, and I really think the car feels more aggressive.

I had my brother call the dealer today to talk to a random SA and ask what software update they were currently installing in the 3 series. He didn't have any idea what he was talking about. When the issue of lag was discussed he made a couple jokes about forum rumors and driving school.

Like I said, I'm not sure if I really got the upgrade to v31 or not. It just seemed to easy. The car feels different, but could just be my imagination. Sorry to disappoint. It would be nice if you didn't have to talk the dealerships into making this happen. Aren't we all on the same team?

Call them - demand proof of what version (including the target data) was loaded on your car. You deserve to know. We do too!
