Wow..an upgraded turbo N55 barely beats a stock turbo N54 lol this shit is making me regret getting an n55.

Stock n54 tuning as been around much longer and has less restrictions in regards to advanced tunes. Stock n54 turbos can make 500+hp; I'm running around 420 with a much less aggressive tune and still reeled him in.

Ooooo....I see. Then that's pretty sick man, nice. I hope soon we(n55's) can upgrade to even bigger turbos or figure out more advanced tunes.

My pure turbo will be here tomorrow!!!
![]() Worked on the car for a hour at the end of the day. Got the valve cover off to inspect the Vanos units for the recall and found them to be in good shape. Installed the updated bolts and will re install the valve cover tomorrow. While I had the top end torn down I went ahead and pulled the hot side charge pipe, inlet tube off the turbo, electric fan, water pump, and thermostat. I was going to finish pulling the turbo but was tired and called it a day. I can't wait to get this turbo installed and have the piece of mind that my motor isn't going to grenade from the vanos units at any time, lol.

Got the turbo installed and started doing some logs. Power in the upper RPM's is freaking awesome! Targeting 19psi right now and should be able to squeeze 20psi out of it since PWM is nearly maxed out.

I always wondered when the turbo is out of its efficiency range. I always had the feeling there is a bigger difference from 14 to 16 psi compared with 16 to 18 psi.
I guess running it at max psi wont help longevity either? I will do some tests with gps logger on some lower psi and report back. |

You will be exactly right darkhold, running at the top won't get you as big of gains and it will also decrease longevity. This turbo seems to be very reliable though, so I am not extremely worried about that. And by the time it dies Pure should have stage 2 out and it would be a good excuse to upgrade :P
