As said before, I do not have this issue, but maybe some guys are just feeling the TCC closing and not a bad 2-3 shift? On stock cals and light loads this happens at the same time, so it's probably hard to separate.

If it's the TCC, that will be cured by a tune. If not, it gets more complicated and theres probably not one single solution for it.

The adaptations though are there to adapt the SW to the production tolerances of valves and wear of clutches. If for instance, the SW sees a flare during shifts, it'll try to close the clutches a little bit more rapidly next time. In fact there is a parameter "rapid fill time" which adjusts the time needed in order to move a clutch pack from open to the friction point. That needs to happen super fast while the point from friction to closed needs to be slow and smooth.

So if your adaptation values are very high or very low, that indicates a mechanical problem. If they are in the normal range, a different cal may help you.
What is your mileage and have you replaced oil and filter already in your tranny? Do you have the BMW toolset (Ediabas or Rheingold (ISTA-D)?

Currently at 116k miles. But this is not a new issue.
I had the tranny services last year around 80k miles. No change in behavior.
I don't have those BMW tools.

Hm. I'm afraid without that it'll be trial and error. You will need an OBD to USB cable to flash your tranny though.

Ah! Interesting, I never paid attention to that file, and I thought Win7 automatically starts searching in files once it can't find the file name. It turns out davidjaen 's newest ZB number is 7595728. Try to flash that one and tell us if the shifting has changed!

WinkFP uses this file to determine the newest version for a given ZB. So if you Flash in Auto Mode you will end up with the latest ZB which was found in the His file.

Very good indeed, learning a lot about jerky transmission is interesting as well, but asking to get back on this thread topic is too much?

Hi Guys,

I'm on my way to build a proper file database for later use in the tool. For verification purposes it would help a lot, if some of you could use this version from Dave's tool to do a full-dump of your TCU and upload these files here!

Preferred from: 335i N54/N55, 330i, 320d, Alpina B3 Every other dump is also appreciated of course!

Remember: Only 2nd Gen 6HP transmission! (see my post on last page)

The usage is as follows:

- Download the zip file and extract somewhere on your hard drive
- Attach a known working INPA cable to your car with the ingnition on
- Open a command line from the start menu. Just type "cmd"
- Navigate to the folder, where you extracted the tool
- Type: "TCU_flash -p=COMX" where "X" is the number of the COM port you are using for the INPA cable
- According to Dave -> Go, drink a coffee

The procedure is harmless and even if it's interrupted it won't do any harm to the car. It's just reading, not writing.

Just make sure, that you turn of as much appliances as possible (AC, Headlights, Radio etc.) so that your battery doesn't get drained too much during the read process.

Please upload the files with your car type, engine code and build date!

HI RayBan81 I would be very happy to dump my file; considering it is a 2007 330 xd Europe, it is of no use at all, ain'it?!
I mean, I am not sure if it's a first or second generation

Let me know, because this state is true, for us only though

The dates for the switch from 1st to 2nd gen are as follows:

Mar 07 for 335i
Mar 07 for 335d
Sep 08 for 325d/330d (M57)

Since AFAIK the 335d was introduced in 2009 to the US market the tool should work for EVERY US 335d

You can do the dump anyway. Reading will work on 1st gen too and sooner or later they may be added anyway to the tool!

A question, there is any available "proof" the 335d US March 2007 has the second generation ZF TCU and a 330d EU January 2007 has the first one at all?

I will be curios to know about it.

335ds in the US were model year 2009. Mine had a prod date of 2008-11-12. You'll never find one with a production date of 2007.
