If someone wants to give me a step by step on how to reload a modified trace file, I'll try it. Do I put my modified backup file back into the work folder, use expert mode, and then just hit process car? Or is it more involved than that?

tried that, you just get an error if your module doesn't come w/ the ones in the trc file

Yeah, I think it's not going to work. I coded 2 2006s today and in the CAS trace file, none of the NFRM modules are referenced. So there is no way to code NFRM features.

Okay, I'm tring to do install per instructions on page one. However, when I get to step 15 (where you select airbag module) on the FYI, it fails. Is there any success with Windows 7 64 bit? If I recall, this install is not possible on 64 bit. My set-up is this:

Have INPA, etc. set up as per instructions. When I plug in my cable (it's a K-line cable as my 02/07 build 2007 328xi is not a DCAN car, if my info is correct on what cars have DCAN, etc.), I get the two black circles on the "BMW Diagnosis Program" (this is what comes up when you click on the INPALOAD shortcut you create per instructions). It will then allow me to select chassis (e90), and I can select Karosserie. However, when I select "airbag" I get the following:

An error box comes up on the middle of the screen that says "Variant checking"
The box then says"
Group file: D_SIM
SYS-005: OBJECT NOT FOUND
Program will be stopped!

Any help? Or is this the error you get when you try to run this on W7 64 bit?

*AE's as DRL for early production E90's.*

I'm pretty sure this has to be doable for us early productioners, because when you turn the car off the AE's still stay on until you open the door. So the option is there for exiting.

Here's my FRM file if anyone wants to give me some suggestions.

After you read the ECU, open up the FSW_PSW.TRC file and copy all the data there and paste it into another notepad window. BAM, there you go, you have a copy/backup of your CAS.

I tried searching for VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL which is the NFRM value to set the DRL lights to whichever light you want to, but it's not present in your FRM file.

So, either it's not possible on those build dates before 04/07 or it's another value.

After you have selected your chassis & ECU, when you click "Back" (before you press "Process ECU"), your full 200KB+ trc file is generated.

Refer to step 44 - 49 on the DIY PDF.

I wanted to add that both of those 2006s I coded were 6MTs and I didn't get the gear error on dash on either of them when I was done. I did update my DATEN and SGDAT but NOT the C:\ediabas\ecu. I tried updating the C:\ediabas\ecu but I got error after when I ran NCS. I reverted back to my original C:\ediabas\ecu and the error went away. I'll go back and read up on the fix to the error.

are we sure the 200kb trc file is actually the car's file? or something that is just automatically generated by the program; it would explain why us preproduction folks see the all options in the big file , but not in the sub-modules; and it would explain when you try to code the whole car and using that trc, you get errors and/or wrongly coded submodules (ie: the gear error)

antiks, that's a good point. I know that I've been backing up my individual modules before I code them for just in case.
