I must admit the flexibility of COBB seems pretty damn good and I like the fact that you can exchange individual maps between people. That way people with the same mods can help each other out.
On the other hand, I honestly don't see myself fiddling with the parameters. While it is definitely interesting and one can learn a lot, I'd rather spend my time driving the car than fiddling with it. Another thing is, everyone keeps talking about extracting max power and max torque and running the car as close to the limit as possible. While this is OK for the occasional track event, in my mentality running the car at its limits all the time is a bad thing because there are so many variables that change from day to day: fuel quality, weather conditions, traffic pattern, etc etc. I'd rather have 5-10% buffer just as a safety precaution. Finally, while COBB may have had a lot of success in other platforms, they have JUST started working on european cars. Honestly they have no experience when it comes to euro cars. I am betting their maps are more of a cookie cutter kind of a deal till they get further into it and get more familiar with the engines. GIAC on the other hand has been tuning nothing else BUT euro cars for close to 2 decades now. Porsche, VW, AUDI, Bentley, Lambo, BMW. They tune everything with extreme success. Moreover, they provide the tuning for the Vortec supercharger for the E46 M3 and can whip up a top-notch tune for any custom setup. Moreover, they also are extremely good at tuning NA engines as well which is rare amongst tuners. I know this sounds like a lot of GIAC fanboyishness, but if you do some searching into the other platforms you will know what I mean. I don't see myself running anything else but GIAC flash.

COBB -> new to the BMW/Euro game. Need to prove themselves. GIAC -> tuning euro cars for decades. Got nothing to prove. Consistently excellent!

I'll give it a try...he's eastern european, so everything he buys is better than anyone else's even if its exactly the same...good? lol I'll give him credit though, he does do more research than anyone else on here, so there is always some relevance and veracity to his statements.

Tonight: going out for some drinks without the GF!
![]() Tomorrow: going to dubwerks for some GIAC love. Either get S1 or upgrade to S2. Have not decided yet as I need to verify the bling of my checking account.

Here is a question in regards to A&L and IND:
I know they are a great body shop and they do some really outstanding work. What I am interested in is whether they can design a one-off BMW. Basically, I am curious if I can bring my car in, have them take pictures, and then design the exterior mods on a computer and then show them to me. Sort of a Chip Foose, kind-a deal... When it comes to exterior mods, I have hard time visualizing a new bumper on my car when it is unpainted and sitting on top of someone's desk. So I almost never see myself buying an aftermarket bumper cover. I am just not convinced that I would like it till I see it on my car.
