buy one.

You'll find uses for it once you own it.
I just rebuilt john deere deck spindles without using a hammer.

Everything I used to beat with a hammer is better and less work/stress with a press.

I went all in on a giant one because why not. but even a 5 ton press would be handy to have around.

It went from "bought it to use for a specific reason" to "how did I live in the before time" pretty quick.

I'd bet I would have spent 2 hours freeing that wiper spindle up with hammer and a torch, probably would have bent it. I had it out in the press in 2 minutes.

That's interesting. I've used Osram Nightbreakers on a few BMWs and my RAV4 over the years with a marked improvement. I'd far rather have upgraded halogen lights than Xenon, so much less expense and hassle. Z4 has Xenon and they didn't impress me. Xenon bulbs decay over time, around a 3000 hour life. My Z's were so dim they were dangerous when I bought it.

Changed the rear differential fluid today. Car is a 2010 E91 xDrive, AT, with 138K miles. Did the front differential a few months ago when I had the waterpump/thermostat done. I know BMW says the rear diff is "lifetime" but they really mean "until it's off warranty and not our problem." The stuff that came out looked pretty clean, amber color and still translucent. I wonder if it had been done at some point as it looked too clean to be original. Got a lot more out than I expected and put in more than I expected - almost the whole quart bottle of Royal Purple 75W-90.

Anyway, it's good to go for another "lifetime."

This might be relevant to you:

The Philips +150 are rated highly--I just bought a set for my dad's Tacoma recently.

Thanks for the feedback. I do notice the soft give as the spring compresses in my current stock setup. My wheels are very loud going over bumps and I hear the shocks hissing during compression so was curious to hear impressions on new shocks. Trying to keep this on a budget so gotta think some more on I should get new springs or not.

It will be a while before I'll know anything about how they hold up, but by look and feel they are quite a bit beefier than the OEM links. The ball joint looks to be about twice the size, and they feel very tight.

Edit: Read tie rods and thought end links lol. The tie rods seem equally beefy tho not any larger than the OEM rods.

From my experience, unfortunately not HD, I track and IL roads are horrible, anyhow, these last lasted half of what I got from BMW OEM. Not I’m on Hotckins I bought used so will see.

You know, I didn't even notice until I saw this comment, I no longer have that hissing after swapping to B8s. Was it just the stocks that did that? I remember hearing it distinctly on every e6x and e9x I came across

Brake fluid dripped out of the calipers and ruined portions of the paint. And also in some places it mysteriously chipped. Like right in the center where you see it most. I'm having a wonderful day..

Hmm not what I wanted to hear but then there's no such thing as a free lunch, they're like 1/3 the price of Genuine BMW. I bought them for the 330i but upgraded that to Whitelines when I went with the B12 kit. I hope the Whitelines hold up, they were pricey but look good. Obvs you can't tell by looking until the ball joints start flopping around. Anyhoo, I don't track and the roads around here aren't the worst in the state, we'll see how long they go.

Some jobs are cursed bro, usually beer lifts the curse but not until the next day. Everything painted that I try to install ends up with mysterious chips, that's why I'm leaning more and more to RPM on bare metal for heavy castings.

At this point yeah, seems like itd be better to just get them powdercoated and be done with it. Its the little things like this that puts a downer on the whole thing haha. I don't think I'll be installing them this week

It's much easier to not care and just put stuff back the way it is and call it a day, like you'd get if you *gasp* took it to a mechanic. It's the perfection part that's always the hangup but when it's done and drool worthy it's all worth it.

Yeah thats a good point, its all worth it in the end. But man it was drool worthy for a day. Some times its good to take a breather though. I think I'd feel rushed for time if I decided to do it this week ha.

How's yours coming along?

Especially paint can't be rushed. I painted my lower control arms and did not wait long enough to dick with them and they were still sticking to things and I chipped them all up installing. Fek. I just touched them up and live and learn. It needs like a week to cure fully or at least a couple days in the sun. I have the Eastwood tools catalog next to the sh!tter, been drooling over those powder coat systems but gonna need a oven for that. Maybe when I get my dream shop

The 325 is coming along, I should be ready to fire it up by the weekend if the last of my parts come. I did the oil pan and water pump, suspension is all together, brakes are mostly done, waiting for rear pads and front rotors. I'm gonna upgrade this to the 330 brakes when I get around to dropping the rear subframe so I just bought cheap "Detroit Axle" rotors, the rears that showed up are surprisingly nice for the price. Then I just gotta get the 3 stage manifold in and fire it up. I'm gonna work out any kinks or codes before I flash it to the 330i tune.

Did nothing. Strange that a BMW doesn't need any work.

No, it's not sitting in the garage anymore. Gets driven 15 miles a day (for 3 days)

Thinking about replacing the belt and tensioner since I've got nothing else to do.

PO just changed the tensioner. The belt looks like new. No cracks etc.

Real OEM shows two front anti-roll bars, 31356796302 26.5mm and 31356793312 for sport but no diameter given. I'm going to remove my ARB when I fit the water pump and might as well replace the bushings, but what diameter to get?

Maybe the sport ARB is solid instead of hollow? Anyone know?
