As soon as my car leaves the garage it becomes coated in a fine but noticeable layer within 5 minutes. I'm sure many here are familiar with our notoriously dusty brakes, yes? Clean your wheels, 1-2 drives later, it looks like you didnt do shit? That's my whole car, year round. The only thing that changes is whether it's pollen or dust

ebay "Detroit Axle" rotors arrived today, surprisingly nice quality for the price. Got them on, just need pads to finish up the rear.

Yeah, the black coating got old real quick so I pulled the Textar pads off the front and put on Akebonos. Much better. Still have the rear pads that were on it when I got it three years ago - they don't put out as much dust so either not Textars (or similar) or if they are, the rears just don't dust as much. But I have a set of Akebonos ready to go when necessary.

Au Contraire, I haven't polished the VC or the exhaust or the subframe or nothing yet. JK, one car w/ shiny muffler is enough.

I put on the Bosch "QuietCast", I never used them before but good reviews. If anyone has exp with them be interested, but they're what's on.

No, it's not sitting in the garage anymore. Gets driven 15 miles a day (for 3 days)

Thinking about replacing the belt and tensioner since I've got nothing else to do.

PO just changed the tensioner. The belt looks like new. No cracks etc.
I know, mine didn't have ANY issues for about a week. Then a washer fluid leak developed, and I'm like ah, back to normal.

I think this one boils down to my work days and lack of a second vehicle Heh heh.

Honestly the winters up here aren't too bad, it's the most balanced weather across all four seasons I've seen so far. It's still fairly random, but I digress. We don't have the snow Denver has

Also, what's everyones thoughts on CSF radiators? The OE one I bought a year ago has failed and I'm worried a replacement could do the same.

Those rotors rust very bad. They don’t have any protective coating at all. I hope you would use some anti rust treatment.

They are zinc dichromate coated and I wiped the insides with wd40 corrosion inhibitor. The rotors I took off were rusty af these will last for a bit. I bought the cheap ones cause they only have to last until I get to phase 2 of this car which will include upgrade to the larger brakes I removed from the 330i when I replaced them. It's just the bracket pads and rotors that are different, they use the same calipers.

my e90 is making a rattling noise that i cant seem to find where its coming from. So i opened the hood and pushed in everything that wasnt in its notch and double checked other clips. still no hope. its sounds like a bolt rattling around in a plastic jar. its been driving me insane.

also, ever since i changed my coils and plugs, i feel like the engine sounds much rougher than before. it used to be so quiet

Nice, I did my front brakes last month with the Zimmerman/Akebono kit from FCP and found very little brake dust on the first carwash. I like the feel of the pads, very little difference from the set the PO installed.

The rear are different on 325i. The 330i has bigger parking brake. All fronts are interchangeable.

The sticking part that's preventing me from doing it now is the only way to replace the rear dust shields (without cutting them off and cutrting/forcing them on is to pull the hubs off the wheel bearings. It has bearings in it's future along with the subframe bushings, it will all get done at the same time. Also in that round it will inherit the OEM 330i exhaust when that gets upgraded.
Todaty tho it's getting a 3SI manifold

Well I didn't do anything to my E90 today but I did something for it. Does that count? It's still in storage until Sunday. I swapped out the studded winter tire set for the summers on the Golf and I switched the winter wheels for the summer set on my truck. I am so happy to get those noisy BFGs off the truck. It's so much smoother and quieter with the Goodyears...looks better too. Now I have that chore out of the way so I can focus on the e90 next week.
Oh and it looks like I need to give the truck a good wash, it's filthy.

Put her back together after doing oil pan gasket, engine mounts, O2 sensors and coolant hoses.

EVERYTHING is easier to reach with that subframe dropped:

A little cleaner now:

Hopefully that means she will be reliable for road trips and towing the motorcycle all summer.

Last weekend was this:

Been at it for a couple hours trying to get my passenger door open. Actuator is as broken as it possibly could be. It won't unlock at all. I've tried everything in the book to no avail
