I totally agree with my mexican compadre. Buying OEM may buy you peace of mind and all, but there are way better options out there. If you are concerned about warranty, go take a look at the hundreds of cars on this forum that have been beaten up from day 1 with a PIGGYBACK tune and are still covered under full warranty and are running great. I think a while back i saw a post about cars past 100k with a tune and running strong.
But if you're just looking for a little pep in your step i guess OEM is ok. The thing is (especially in these cars) - HP is addictive. Your butt dyno will eventually grow used to this newly increased power and you'll want more. Then you'll wish you bought the COBB AP. Coolest thing about the COBB AP is that you can take it off and sell it when you got tired of it or if you sell your car, and will prob make back 90% of what you paid. From what i understand, the BMW Performance power kit is a software flash and once its gone its gone you cannot take it off and sell it to gain back any of the money you spent. Furthermore, COBB is tried and true and has been a good solution for tuning Turbo cars for a long time. |

yes, Cobb is extremely reputable.
last month i had an appointment at the dealership. before i took it in, i sat outside of my garage for @ 20 minutes and pulled the flash off. i didn't open my hood, i didn't break clips and i didn't have to break my back bending over the fender while uninstalling a piggyback. i put the tune in my pocket and drove to the dealer. after the oil change i drove to Brenster's house and flashed my car again in his driveway. 2 hours later i ate some junk pizza in midtown.................. |
