Alright, finally getting somewhere on my turbo swap. Anyone else have a hell of a time getting their lines off their turbo? Mine were corroded in there quite badly and it was a bitch to get them out! I seriously almost broke 2 of the lines. I will be cleaning them up and putting some high temp anti-seize on them so they will come out ok when going to stage 2.

I didn't have too hard of a time. I found the best approach for me was just wiggling them back and forth repetitively for quite a while. All of a sudden they just popped out. Make sure you replace the o-rings though and be careful not to pinch them. I had a small peice missing from one of mine and it leaked about half a quart of oil in 3 days.

I forgot to mention I have 63k miles on mine and it has been through 4 Minnesota winters so it is probably the worst for corrosion that has been done. My O-rings were not damaged, but wiggling would not do it. I had to use a pry bar to even get them to move and then something to leverage to pop the line out.

I am not going to be able to make it to the dealership, but I do have a universal o-ring kit. I am sure there are the correct ones in there. I am worried that these may possibly be Viton or a high temp o-ring, does anyone know? I think I will reuse the ones that were on there unless someone can confirm they are standard rubber O-rings.

I double checked my O-rings and they are in good shape.

I also found that the compressor cover on my turbo was off 90* from Pure. Just an FYI to anyone else that runs in to this - you should not tap on the compressor wheel shaft to get the compressor cover off. What you do is hold the turbo by the compressor cover with the turbine side facing down and tap on the side of the compressor cover with a good sized hammer. Work your way around and the center section will fall out of the compressor cover (you have to hold it above your work surface so gravity helps). If you tap on the compressor shaft then you are bottoming out the bearings/wheels and could cause damage.

When mine came apart I grabbed the compressor wheel quickly so it didn't fall and got some nice gashes on my hand. Damn that billet wheel is sharp! I figured I made a blood sacrifice to the turbo gods and it should perform well.

40 in second? The car would just spin the tires. I have to keep 2nd limited to 12psi and it still spins them sometimes. I think the whole 4th gear was good. Gave quite a bit of data on the logs. We'll be doing this again soon so there should be another video in another week or two. Might have to get some E85 in my tank too and see what happens.

My car won't even brake loose at 19psi in second just rips. If you're limited at 12 and still spinning that blows get some better tires

Don't you have a 335 though? We're stuck with narrow tires out back. I have Continental ExtremeContact DW's, a damn good tire, and I still can't put the power down in 2nd. Even when they were new and I was on the stock turbo. Being limited to 255 width sucks.

Don't need better tires. Not worth the price to just run them bald within 3 months. Have federal on right now and super happy with them. They even brake loose in 3rd if the conditions are right. 12 in second seems to be a pretty good spot. Runin19.5 to 19.7psi on 255's.

I dont understand i have 8 speed gearbox with shorter gears. In 1st it makes 12 psi, in 2nd 15 psi, in 3rd 18 psi. As of 4th it makes 20 psi.

I have 245/35-18 on the rears (michelin supersport) and no grip issues at all. I can do 3.9 0-60 all day long maybe the chassis of the F20 is more refined and the short gears of the gearbox help not making too much boost in first 2 gears.

I'm not sure why there's a difference either. Could be a little from having the hatch putting more weight over the rear wheels? No idea. Al I know is if I floor it in 2nd or sometimes third the tires break loose. Could be the tires but I'm liking how they perform for $90 a piece. Either way I'm sure there will be another video of the same thing soon. Hopefully you'll actually be able to see my car and not just headlights this time. Hahaha.

Those super sports might be the difference. I hear they're epic. My best 60 ft time is like 2.05 on Continental's fwiw.

Yes, 40 in second. 40 is the common rolling race start speed. I did my first run in 3rd and quickly found that 2nd was much better. its right at around 4,500 RPMs in 2nd for 40mph. You definitely leaving a lot of power on the table if you are spinning that easily and esp if spinning in 3rd.

MPSS's are literally the best tire. Well worth every penny though. Nitto NT05's I can barely get then to spin, and when they do it is only for a split second until they hook.
