What did I do to my car today? Enjoyed the interior and rewrapped the vbrace with leftover brushed aluminum I had from my trim. What do y'all think? I'm 50/50, I like it more than what it was before but it looks almost white. Kinda eh
The brace looks out of place. I'd go back to black. My 2c.
Yeah it does lol. I think I got some satin black around here somewhere

I got two huge jobs done today. First I tidied up my jack-point pads. I found an old camera lens pouch that I never use that is a perfect fit. It keeps the pads from sliding around the trunk.

Next I changed out the manky, old, yellow marker lights on the fenders for some new ones from RockAuto. I think they look much better. See before and after pictures below.

Did the side marker come with that silver bulb?

On rockauto it shows it with an orange bulb.

I messaged him on another forum and told him the same thing. I really had no idea it was so easy to do the 3SI swap if not for his posts and videos, really got me started with that project. If they're gonna ban content like his without recourse for spurious reasons there's really no place left to go online to escape cancel culture.

They look good. I managed to polish my lenses up but the gasket is half white and half black and nothing will make it all white again.

Man I really did like this forum up until Will's ban. I do agree he should either join under a different alias, IP, email etc or perhaps a large enough petition to the moderators and a well crafted "apology" note.

Agh, I just don't like the other forums; the layout is subpar, there isn't an app, and all of you guys are well, on here

All that except the "apology" part, F that this whole world can get bent if it comes down to apologizing for fake offenses. (this is why I'm no longer welcome on every major social media platform, trying to stick to cars here but it's tough sometimes)

Don’t really feel too much vibration or just don’t know how much vibration to expect. I didn’t feel anything else but some free play, nothing on the diff doesn’t move in and out of place. One note though - my shift lever used to vibrate slightly at idle, when I replaced the flex disc, this vibration disappeared for a bit. It reappeared after the test drive. Must be either ujoints as you suggested or, as I found in some thread, it could be the damper rings which are installed on the splines which go into the csb:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=26_0218
Item 5, never mind it’s a diagram for a diesel, it’s similar for n51/n52

My driveshaft parts finally came in after 5 weeks wait for the center bearing. I replaced the center bearing and rubber flex joint (we used to call it a guibo), and the transmission mounts. The driveline got a bit smoother, but the vibration I was originally talking about was getting better as the miles racked up anyway, so all in all not a big change. The center bearing was a bit loose but not too bad. I may do the engine mounts just to be sure, and maybe the diff mounts too. I still think what happened was an internal baffle in the muffler broke back in February and was/is causing the vibration. Or it could be the diff is going, but I'm not so sure. If it does after 246,000 miles, I'll rebuild it with an LSD. I'll keep you posted on it.

Now what I did discover is this. The driveshaft has two small plastic isolators ("damper rings") that sit on the splined part of the shaft (Item #5 in the pic below). My driveshaft when I disassembled it did not have these parts in it. Being confused that it didn't, I was leery to put both new parts in (I was smart enough to order them for some reason), so I just put one in instead of two; I was concerned the shaft would not collapse far enough to reinstall it. Well low and behold the metallic clink that some of us hear when we load and unload the drivetrain has now gone away. I think these two little plastic damper rings were added to the drive shaft assembly to prevent the noise.
