Apparently you've learned more about some things in your years that I haven't managed to in mine. I was just thinking about some of the forums I was on in the wayback machine and I'll just say I was glad I had a chance to be part of the electronic wild west, cause now it's like that large corporation that is up the tailpipe of that country that makes the substandard parts that makes smtty kids movies that I'd prolly get banned for mentioning. But I digress.

Did I mention I take the 325i for alignment thurs? (obligatory car post)

Don't mourn for me when I'm gone lol.

Dropped her off at the service shop for new front Bilstein Struts and a valve cover/gasket replacement.

I thought hard about polishing mine but for the price replacing them with new won out in the end. My gaskets didn't appear too bad until you held them up beside the new ones. I'm glad I decided to replace rather than polish.

I looked at getting the smoked lights but I didn't think they would look as good as the clear on my car. It's white with all chrome trims so the clear lights blend in better than the smoked would. It also helps with the "sleeper" feel of the car IMO.

PO did the tensioner but not the pulley or belt

I mean, he got it done so I guess he either was trying to save money by just getting the tensioner replaced or, the BMW mechanic he usually went to told him everything else is good but the tensioner needs to be replaced.

The tensioner felt fine it didnt spin freely and was tight but didnt feel like the new one. I just did it preventively. Been doing everyone on my new to me 330i LOL. Costing a good amount now and almost to the price of what i got her for. Most expensive was Disas and the Apex wheels waiting for her after I burn these Michelins off at autoX

Watch out for that OFHG - I had to have mine done 3 times because they kept using non-BMW gaskets - unbeknownst to me. Mercifully the third time it leaked I caught it before the oil had time to kill my brand new Continental belts...

The third independent assured me they only use OEM BMW OFHG gaskets because they have an extra ridge and better materials sourced from Japan which last much longer.

Also, gave it a rinse and a vacuum - looks pretty good for 130K!

That is really clean!

I just checked the paper work the PO gave me.

Looks like the indy he went to used an OEM/Genuine BMW oil filter housing gasket

Charged him a whole $639 for the OFHG job. Holy shit

Went to go get emissions tested.

They got the miles wrong somehow. I am at 72,426. Not 72,000

Now I have to pay $154 for a stupid renewal sticker. Screw Illinois

Surprisingly,...the car failed the inspection

Gave the 325i a consumer grade paint correction with my consumer grade equipment, it got the swirls out at least but not the heavier clearcoat scratches, but it softened those up a bit. Don't look too shabby for a $4k Craigslist car.

Grew up in a broken family and the only jobs I've had are dealing with Karens. I've learned while it'd be nice to stick it up their.. Mm. You know. I have better success just dealing with it. Might sound weak but it has it's benefits. For instance I'll leave out some small yet important information that will surely make them embarass themselves. Or I'll let them do what they want full knowing they'll get screwed and once again embarrassed. It's like a game. Interestingly theyre all the same type of person. Cranky, no personality, they dress the same, drive the same cars, wear the same clothes, wear masks and sunglasses they probably found at Walgreens

Car post of the day: Some kids were walking down the sidewalk in my subdivision and yelled at me from across the way (was cruising at around 2500rpm) so I gave em a little blip of the throttle

Wow.

I leave for a couple days, come back, and in that time we've become one great person and high contributor less.

I'd like to hear a full statement on this from those responsible. Not to roast them and never consider their side- but to understand what caused it, the thought process of the moderators, and the rules which supposedly necessitated the ban.

There better not be any vendor or politics involved in this because that is how communities get ripped apart. I'm from the Abarth community- trust me.

If he did make a comment that offended someone, and someone complained or reported him, then we ( meaning him, the offended party, and potentially the rest of us) should talk about it because we are adults, not children, and can hopefully have a calm and healthy discussion about how we communicate, what me mean by what we say, and how we can be more aware going forward.

A missed opportunity. Silencing someone does not resolve a conflict in the long term.

Oh yeah and about cars...
I ran my car with the intake manifold off. No MAP, no O2, no MAF. And somehow it was as smooth as it always is. That's absolutely absurd.

Anyone get their car ceramic coated?

I’ve been getting the itch to get mines ceramic coated for a little over a year now.

The quotes I’ve gotten ranged from $700-$1,200 (depending on the durability of the ceramic coat. 1-5 years). The Detailer has to do a full paint correction to remove swirls and such before applying the coating.

The thing is, if the car is not washed properly after getting ceramic coated, swirl marks and all that other stuff can potentially come back.

I take good care of my car. I use the two bucket wash method but I mean swirl marks are easy to create.
