The reservoir should be changed at 75k apparently because it does contain a filter in the bottom, guess the pump draws and the rack pushes back up through the return hose.

Guess the fluid itself is recommended 75k or two years, but of course BMW now says its "lifetime."
The service mgr at my local BMW dealer suggested to me at one point that it should be changed out every 50,000 miles & the reservoir every 100,000

In other news, the coolant bullshit is finished. The upper part of the clips for coolant sensor in the lower rad hose broke when taking it out but was hoping itd still seat but it leaked. Used an oreillys replacement so we'll see how that goes. No dealerships near me and I needed it asap. I hate doing that. Finally plugging in the connector a wire snapped at the head I guess you could say. So I did my best to solder it, wasnt pretty but hopefully it'll hold until I can get one from a parts car or something.

Also cleaned the air filter, was a little dirty. The coils will wait. I don't want to deal with this car anymore today

It’s exactly 13 years old and probably few years over due for replacement.

I have a vibrant resonator but it's not the ultra quite. I also had some issues with the hangers not lining up any more so I've got it kinda rigged right now.

It might be your exhaust setup because I think my car sounds good with headers but I'm basically all stock after that. Also I don't get how those would fit like shit when I had mines made overseas and they fit like a glove

They fit well, it's the rest of my exhaust that's causing it to not be a good fit. I have a vibrant resonator and magnaflow muffler, the shop that installed them for me put new hangers in a different location to fit the muffler. I think the exhaust will sound alot better once it stops rattling against the rear v-brace.

When my car had a muffler delete they used 3" pipe and it rattled like crazy at idle and driving in parking lots. Took a hammer and a dull chisel to it and fixed it real quick

Aren't the OEM BMW ones made by bosh?

I've got bosh ones on mines and they work fine
They might be but Bosch but do not say Bosch on them like the previous ones installed did.

Probably used rubbing alcohol to remove the Bosh print

I just got the replacement for the left back. Too bad you can't easily do the driver's door, it's the only sign of wear in my car.

Retested the 14 year old AGM battery that came with the car. In service date 03/2007. Still putting out correct voltage, even after sitting unused on multiple occasions for 4-5 months w/out a charger. I know its on borrowed time, but I have a powerpack jumpstarter in the trunk in case I get stranded.

Been getting acclimated to the wagon, driving last couple days, "filled" up today...
$35 and it didn't fill all the way!
My Fit fills up with $23 AND regular fuel!!
Man, this will take some time to adjust.

Just got home from a road trip with the gf with the e92. Put on a little over 400 miles with some extended canyon time thrown in the mix. Car made 0 issues and got us home purring just how it left. I reverted to 93octane from e30 but was still at 2+ the whole time too. Really pleased with how the car is doing

Also came home to car parts! Total vanity mod more than anything though. Air scoops to offset my body color

Bought a good amount of stuff from fcp euro for both cars. Amusing how the water pump for the E46 is 37 bucks and for an e9x it's 10 times that. Also oil filter housing and heat exchanger gasket for the e92. I'll try and make a coolant hose myself for it with parts of the x3 I pulled the cooler from

Thought I would share this because at least for me it was interesting to see that there are indeed N52s that came from factory with the oil to air heat exchanger.

It isn't just N54 that got that. It seems that while the vast majority of N52s didn't get any oil cooler or water to oil ones, there's a few like this X3 3.0si M Sport that came with the same setup as the N54 just the cooler is to the driver side of the car. I was reading about this this morning after seeing that FCP Euro had different OFHG kits one for cars with S840 option and ones without it (without it means it has oil to water cooler) and then luck has it that I go pull parts from a car with the special rare oil cooler

Ps: it's a shame this car ended up in these hands as it was in ok shape, definitely worth more than just as parts..

LOL. I know its apples and oranges but my truck is just over $150 to fill and that gets me about 450kms (280miles).
