Looks great. I forget is the outside magnesium or aluminum?
I believe the outside is a magnesium alloy and the inside is aluminum. Magnesium kind of feels like a painted surface to work with when cleaning, at least this outer block does

Parked next to an IDENTICAL e91 today. Beautiful car...that color is so nice in person. No photo does it justice.

How do you know that gasket went bad? can the oil from the cap and gasket go into the coil packs and plugs?

Any suggestions welcome, doesn't need to be perfect just clean enough to work on
I find brake cleaner will spray away most oily residue. I used a whole can in the area around my water pump before changing it. Bad enough job without getting filthy too.

The same man I talked about awhile back who made a NOS kit for his N52.. Has ditched that and replaced it with an (intercooled) twin screw supercharger from a ford. He's expecting 400hp-450hp

I bought these. Cheap and I thought they might complement the trim. Also I thought they looked kinda modern.

I'll resell them if I'm not a fan

I've had the clear versions on for like a year and they haven't failed.

I like them, mostly for how they look when they're off.

Finally got around to fitting my LCI headlight switch knob. Looks a lot better now nice contrast. Also got to revisit my melted plastic homemade push switch for the rear fogs

Now working to see if I can fix my intermittent inner trunk lights....

I managed to open this light up in a very invasive way. The board had corrosion and dead traces in a few spots but the leds work fine still. I reflowed everything and jumped some connections with solder.

It works good now however I think it'll keep on failing in different places over time and it's better to replace it. I also chipped the edge of it badly so more reason to do so.

Even though it lives under a car port mine is covered in pollen, summer is coming. So this weekend my '99 RAV4 goes into hiding and the Z4 comes out to play along with the E30.

I was considering getting new ones up until like 5 minutes ago when I found sources for all the components I would need to rebuild these boards.. needless to say I'm just gonna get a new housing for that side and whichever other light fails I'll rework the whole thing! (If my current repair lasts )

At the very least do some modifications while you're in there

Maybe sequential blinkers within the DRL bars that go back to red when off.. oooo

I get this on my passenger side trunk light. Kind of dims on and off usually after washing the car.

I took an X-ray image of these light a while back to show guys where the circuit boards are for “easy” access. Hopefully you saw it.

Well these are the inner trunk ones so not much to do here but the outer ones if they were to fail I would certainly like to do something like the lci euro style lights. I have a soft spot for the bunch of leds as turn signal.

If you have a taillight for the inner trunk for as cheap as can be maybe I'll be interested haha, I'll try to keep this one but if not I'd want to be as cheap as I can into a light I'll cut up

Haven't seen that can you post it again? I have a good idea where the board is, just a pain to get to it so if there's an easier way I'm all game.
