Restored both my headlights and the passenger side one turns out to have some fogging or burning on the inside.. disappointed it didn't come out as clear. It wouldn't be a problem to me if the driver side hadn't come out so good. I guess I'll replace the lens eventually if it bothers me enough

I think what you actually did is make a pretty damn cool looking socket.

Glad everyone and everything is okay, sounds like it could have been worse.

Replaced the rear window seals upper and lower. The biggest part of this job is cleaning the residue from the old seal off the glass and out of the channel, especially under the lip of the glass. I followed the VehicularDIY guy's vid and use silicone to lube up the channel, seal slipped right on.

Very first class of my electronic engineering degree we had a stern warning about wearing rings and bracelets whilst working on electrical equipment along with a few gory tales.

It started a small fire on the battery that I was able to put out. It's really wild how when something unexpected happens the first instinct is to grab it. I stopped myself, remembered some training I took a while ago, grabbed a piece of wood in the garage and jammed it out of the way. I'd say it was sitting there sparking for at least about 10-15 seconds while I contemplated what I could do to stop it.

The socket is welded permanently. Can't get the thing off. But it does look pretty dope. I'm keeping them as a reminder.

The whole time I was thinking, "Yep. This is how fires and explosions happen, and I'm about to be in one."

I still can't believe no fuses blew and the car drives like nothing happened.

I experienced the full fury of an iMac high voltage cap and transformer.
Discharge wand was open circuit.

it did indeed make me fly back as they say.

Scary thought right? The other day I was removing some bearing from an aluminum engine case and didn’t realize the through-hole led to cardboard on the backside. Needless to say, was a few scary moments in the shop!

Glad you thought about the board!

Installed new OE tension arms. @nsjames - no longer need the tool.

If anyone needs/wants some E90 GAS monoballs already installed on hood OE arms get at me. They only have ~3k miles in the monoballs. OE arms and ball joints have 100k on them but they’re perfectly functional with no play.

I removed them bc the car is moving onto my sister. She wants plush plush.

Post some pics when I get a hot minute.

Try using PlastX headlight polish on them (assuming that you haven't clear coated them yet). Made a huge difference when I restored mine.

Too late for that now i coated them after I was done with the meguiars clear coat. But I think there's no fix if it's internal. It doesn't look that different now that they're done but obviously I'm the one that notices it.

Just did the water pump on mine, not fun but not as bad as I feared. I sprayed the area with a whole can of brake cleaner before starting work and it made the job much more pleasant. Covered in an oily mess before.

So it's true, you can weld with an auto battery!

very impressive the battery melt.

Happened to me a couple of time, but it was a single quick drop that makes few spark, then the wrench go away.

Unfortunately upon further inspection from the inside of the trunk lid, I noticed quite a bit of rust forming around the key actuator.
Seems that the cancer has taken a toll on her after 14 years and 313,000km (194,000miles) and it has spread to the area behind the trunk light. Removing the right trunk light revealed some bubbling paint.
Before things get ugly, we may need to schedule a surgery for a replacement trunk lid, if I can find one in space grey.

I have those, love them. Still need to wire in the air pump for the side bolsters.

Managed to convince my mom to trade her M235i Convertible for my 330i for a week for a trip with some friends. Not sure how I scored that but ....

Second day with it today, accelerating (wide open admittedly) from a light and "POP" goes the charge pipe. I have a few days before I leave so getting one picked up from Rush Customs (thanks guys).

Not the cars fault. It should have been replaced a while ago... still trying to show the parents that BMWs need their preventative maintenance. Hopefully this will serve as a bit of a wakeup call.

Took the car to the dealership for an airbag and blower motor recall.

Hoping to have a valve cover gasket, Vanos solenoid seals and oil filter housing gaskets in this week!

Awesome, thanks for this post. I thought I had read that the window needs to come out to replace this seal, you just saved me a bunch of head ache!!! I'll check out vehicularDIY's video, thanks
