Put new front and rear brake caliper pads on. Tektro E10.11.
Old pads weren't as worn as I thought so I threw them in the saddle bag "just in case"! https://www.amazon.com/Tektro-E10-11...1&gad_source=1 |

Spooky, I did 30.4 miles today too - also very windy, but at least it wasn’t raining for once!

25 today for 75 on the week. Shy of my 100 mi/wk goal, but the closest I've come to that in a month.

Glad I found this thread.
I've been heavy into the road cycling hobby the last few years. This morning I was out at 5:15 am PST for a short ride. Summer months are great for early morning rides, daylight peeks out around 4:45 here in the SF bay area. I haven't been riding my old Trek Emonda much lately, so took her out today. I still very much prefer the mechanical shifting to my other bikes with electronic Dura Ace and SRAM Red. |

My bike is broken at the moment - I was undoing the bolt on the carbon fibre seat mast cap (it’s a Trek Madone) and the threaded lug came out with the bolt in shards. I hadn’t touched it since the LBS serviced it at the back end of last year, but can’t prove that.
There is no fix for it other than to buy a new seat mast cap. I went out on one of my other bikes last night, which has an aluminium frame, 105 and Ultegra rather than Dura Ace, and a different saddle. I could only manage 7 miles before the saddle resulted in numb nuts. Hopefully new part will arrive in a couple of days, otherwise I will be swapping saddles around! It has rained today and is forecast to rain each day until mid-next week, so would not have gone out anyway.

I really need to get into the habit of morning rides. The next two weeks look full of 90F heat by noon. I've tried to ride early, but I always feel like I don't have the energy until after lunch. Might be time to try again.

22 miles, good ride. 2 hours elapsed time. Started cool with a slight headwind, light trail traffic. Ended with a stiffening headwind, warmer and more trail traffic.

Did 18.4 miles this afternoon on one of my spare bikes, after swapping the saddle to my Selle SMP TRK from the Trek. The bike is c. 4Kg heavier than my Trek, and with 225m of ascent, it was a hard slog - over 3 mph slower than normal over the ride - so bad I had to put a comment on my Strava to remind me when I look back at my averages in 6 months!
Replacement part for the Trek should arrive on Tuesday, so will be able to swap back to my normal ride.

Read in the press that Gordon Ramsey, the celeb' chef had a big accident on his cycle, he didn't say what happened but showing the whole left side of his body was completely black and said that if he wouldn't have been wearing a helmet he would be dead.

Replacement Trek seat mast cap arrived, fitted and just completed 12.4 miles after work. Felt like a dream compared to the spare bike. Order is restored!

Got 30 miles in this morning. Trying to switch to morning rides to avoid the heat.

Between work and dad duties, I only get 8-9 hours of riding time each week.
Wish I had more time. 4 hour rides are a luxury. Couple rides from last week: Ceramicspeed bottom bracket and a steerer tube chop made the Tarmac really fly! |

Another 12.4 miles tonight, back in the swing of things now. My wife has suggested I sell my spare bikes, as I don’t enjoy riding them, and get another decent carbon one as a spare that I would want to ride. Sounds like an enjoyable project!

I sold my MTB and gave my FX3 hybrid to my brother. So I'm down to 3 bikes now. All Treks. Domane+ LT, Domane SL7, and my first bike, a Crossrip 1 which has been seriously modified. That's now my indoor trainer bike.

Heading back to Live Oak, Texas tomorrow to work on the other house. Tried to get my miles in but it was hot and some early sprints left me wondering where my cardio went. (Oh yeah.... it was an last weeks craft beer binge )

Got 30 more in this morning. Looks like it's going to be morning rides for the foreseeable future as the afternoons are looking to be scorchers for the next 10 days or so.

Just completed another 12.4 miles after work - warm (20c),yet windy. The rear radar light makes the country lanes a breeze, knowing when there are cars approaching. One of the best things I have purchased.
