So Excited.... After being on a 6 Month wait list... Our new puppy has been born! And now we have 8 weeks to go. 8 months for a custom breed hybrid pet. With the desired breed, color and size. Definitely a small investment of $3,000. But knowing and seeing the breeders and dogs environment, living conditions and 2 year health and life Gurantees, gives us peace of mind.
Stay tuned... |

Ginger’s story captured in one picture.
Starting to look forward to her getting at least a little lazy.

After 3 years of going without - finally sent my good lens in for repair. Just got it back - these are the first two pics taken.

Might sound crazy, but in my very limited observations, black coloured dogs always seem to be a little more aggressive for whatever reason. I'm not sure its a thing, or that it could ever be linked to colour of the dog, but I'm curious. |

Since the black passed away and we got the black and tan male - both get along, but the white has taken over the alpha rule. The white is more friendly with people, but she's taking therapy classes (not that we'll use her for that - she just enjoys going to school...and the black and tan is in advanced CGC). White has a tendency to bark more at others outside...where the black/tan is more calm when it comes to that. Only real difference between the colors is the shedding. While all shepherds shed...the white one brings more meaning to the word. There's white hair everywhere (and I mean, everywhere). All shepherds are smart out of the box...but if you keep up with training, you'll see what level they can really get to. Nothing beats a very well behaved puppy.

It does bolster my view that off colour dogs, especially black, seem to have a more dominating / aggressive tack. Not always in a mean way, just want to be Alpha. |

It has been a very long time since I have owned a pet. I grew up with 2 different breeds of dogs (in different states) a Boxer and Husky, both males.
I also have spent time around cats (females) from my relatives and friends homes. So we have decided to get our first family dog since marriage and my 2 children.Yasuda over 2 decades! My wife, children and I specifically wanteda smaller breed that would mostlybe Indoors. Here's my question... Between Male and Female, specifically for those of you with small breeds, what have you noticed as far as: demeanor, training, communication, territorial, and overall character differences? |

She is the only furniture chewer we’ve had. Glad I didn’t replace the family room coffee table when my wife wanted to do so. And she’s been spayed so we’ll just say devil.

Something to consider. Might want the male. And some small dogs are real ankle biters and just annoying. I'm looking specifically at chihuahau's or whatever they are. I've not yet met one that didn't think they were 20 times their size and who didn't want to bite my feet. So I don't like them too much. |

True, I have always had Labs and Shepherds, so the volume output on a smaller dog might not be a concern. My neutered lab also sometimes squats, so I've definitely got some burn spots, but he lifts enough times to not be terribly damaging.

Good info guys! Thanks.
Interesting point about the "attitude and bossy" of females. The Breeder herself commented that in her experience, males were more affectionate and also less likely to latch onto one particular family member. We never had a daughter and figured we would choose a female dog and hope for the best . |

The burning of grass can also be related to the food. We've fed our dogs Fromms for years and never had an issue with it. Never tried them but there are also food additives that help cut down the pH of the urine to reduce the damage to lawns.

I think it has more to w/ nitrogen concentration, too. Caveat to the above is 1 small spot at the base of our deck stairs. Baxter will always hit that spot 1st when we walk in the back yard. As a result, so will our older dog. Both normally help grass grow, but the N concentration is too high in that 1 spot. This might also be why some say females burn grass more than males, females tend to pee in 1 spot whereas males don't. Also, both my dogs are intact. They lift a leg, squat and do a hybrid if the two. It just depends on what they are trying to mark/pee on.

Did I read correctly somewhere that you're getting a 'custom breed hybrid'? What is that?
