Wheels and Ride Quality

I am taking delivery of a new 335is late this month. I upgraded to the 19" wheels and run flat tires. The 335is will be my daily driver in all seasons but winter. I will store for the winter. I am worried the ride with the 19" tires will be rough on the Midwestern Roads where I live.

I will not be tracking the car. I would like the car to preform well and have a reasonable ride.

Should I look at getting 18" wheels? If i go with 18" wheels should I find a set of the 313 in 18" or go with a non BMW Wheel? For the tires should I get tires that are not run flat?

I have the runflat 19's with 29,500 miles. The roads in Va beach are horrible. Potholes etc. Tires are worn excessively on inside due to front end alignment out (they say) and r getting changed monday. I like the tires and rims but potholes/bumps sound like sledge hammers underneath the car. I am glad I got the extended rim/tire warranty as well. Had 3 tires and 1 rim changed so far under warranty. All rears. Good luck!

No, I have the stock ones on my car. The ones in the link would be the correct ones for our cars. You can ask them (getbmwparts.com) to make sure if you want. They offer exceptional customer service.

Sooooo. The run flats only make it 20-30000 miles at 500 a piece huh? Tires look like new all the way around except inside edge of three. They say low air pressure or misaligned I say B.S. Won't pass inspection! Hope the M4 won't have run flats.

Damn! I got right at 30 on the front 2 and less than 20 on one of the rears that had been replaced under warranty at 10. The other rear was just changed 1000 ago under warranty down in FLA. I'm good with "paying to play" but at 500 a piece i expect a little more. I've never even spun a tire!

For those who plan to tune and push their DCT 335is hard, do you plan to upgrade the clutch somewhere down the road? I believe that we only really have one option (SSP's BMW DCT 700whp disc pack), and no one has gotten it working perfectly. Any thoughts on this?

I was tossing the idea around for awhile, I've decided to pick up a CPO 2012 M5 in a year or so.

Here is the link to the upgrade if anyone wants to see the DCT Upgrade...

Potenza RFTs have a tread wear rating of 140, so getting 20K miles without putting your life at risk on worn tires is about as good as you're going to get.

If you can't afford the maintenance associated with a $55k+ car I'd say you made a poor choice.

The cost of a 255/30/19 050 RFTs is no more than $350 at several online retailers, including tire rack. Not to mention there are several other RFT options with much longer tread life as well as being cheaper. Spend more time researching and less time bitching

I have FBO with protuned by Cobb making 434whp and 467wtq with no clutch problems soo far. No I don't use Launch Control all the time because dumping that 5k with 400+whp will destory our shit ROFL!

Yeah, had it in for inspection. They wouldn't pass it and I didn't really have time to look around. I was just a little surprised because at a quick glance they all had alot of tread left. Just some wear on the inside corners. I know better next time.

Is that not covered under the 50000 mile warranty?
