I didn't see any improvements with ceriglass and rayon pads. I was using Griot's Garage 6" Orbital.

I think ceriglass and rayon pads work best on a rotary machine. Something that can maintain the power and generate a bit of heat.

Glass is tough to polish out. I didn't get any of the pits out, I don't think that is possible with any polisher but it did erase/soften the lighter wiper scratches. It is the ultimate cleaner tho, as a surface prep for sealant it got the glass literally "squeaky" clean.

Watch out. That heat can easily cause issues

the rough machining is fine, but the finish work like de burring holes was obviously overlooked.
A 3/16 masonry bit handled all the deburring.

It was advertised to fit a n54 car and the manifold pressure sensor is really just in the way, so I'll drill and tap some new bolt holes and it'll be mint.

this is likely completely not needed, but there was a fair amount of oil in the intake last I pulled it and I just put new DISA valves in and would rather not again.

serviceability will also suck, so I'll have to figure out a drain valve, I will probably run some golden rod to a remote location so I can put a pan under the hose and pull the handle.

yeah, I'm looking at push connect nylon fittings and valves.

after seeing yours I think I'm going to change my hose barbs to point more towards the firewall. My choice of hose is great for being hose, but a bit bulky.

Cleaned out my sister in laws blower motor.
Said it wasn’t blowing out a lot and made a humming noise at higher fan speed.

I ordered LUX H8 189's and I drove it. For the past 5 years I have daily driven a 2004 Jeep Liberty with absolutely no sportiness at all. Any sharp turn and you might roll it, slow acceleration, you name it. Driving my new to me LCI 328i X-Drive with only 75k km's and feeling how it grips the road through corners is simply the best feeling . I have been deprived of a great driving experience for much too long.

I am posting this comment because I see people that are either underwhelmed by their N52's power or simply getting bored of the platform. To them I say, appreciate what you have! It is truly a phenomenal sports car. Yes there is better out there, but these cars are still special. Taking a downhill canyon curve at 130km/h in a stock LCI E90 should put a smile on anyone's face . Super excited for the LUX to arrive!

I'm eagerly awaiting FedEx today with my Chemical Guys Polisher with Scratch and Swirl product. Like any good enthusiast, I bought additional Griot's Polishing Compound and extra pads. Yesterday's box included BMW touchup paint, oil change supplies and BMW coolant...of course. Last night, I touched up the road rash and a couple of door dings so I can get to my first detailing this weekend.

just a washing.

scored a clearance electric leaf blower that matched my lawnmower just for the battery, so now I dry the car with that.

10/10 would recommend. screw hand drying.

Bought an F15 Xdrive35i.

It’s ok. Super soft.

Favorite part: super comfy. Unexpectedly ok fuel mileage. N55 is a gem.

Least favorite part: castle of somewhat creaky plastic.

Needs a little catch up on the maintenance. What else is new? Nice 3-row family hauler.

Upgraded the top mounts. I have 60,000+ miles on the bilstein b12 kit. I can say the shocks are still very much viable. They were a bitch to pull down so that I could take the old hardware off. That says a lot since driving in Michigan is like driving through a war zone.

Also, I did not take all the paneling out of the trunk just to get to the top mounts. All I did was take the one m8 bolt out and remove one plastic rivet. I peeled back the panel & bungeed it back. You can't do this unless you have the ski package. I just knelt on the folded down seats and used my trusty Allen wrench & flex 16mm ratchet.

I can say they absolutely work as advertised. I went in and out a very tight S curve with ease, at higher mph then I could before. The car also felt more horizontal, as the body didn't lean as much while in the S turn.

Should i get the b12 kit for long highway driving and autoX and track use?

Trunk lid seems to be the main source for creaks.

Decided to pull the intake manifold on the M52tub28 in the E46 as to check and address any old failing rubber hoses that might be causing vacuum leaks.

Found this line that hooks up to the top of the fuel rail aswell as one in the back that hooks up to the secondary air pump too. Also intake gaskets were almost like glued in place.

The runners in this manifold seem like they go on a much smaller engine.. maybe it could benefit from the m54b30 intake manifold
