No, you do not remove the valvecover only the valvetronic motor and a couple coils to gain access to that gasket.

I swapped transmission fluid in my GM 6L45 with Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle. 50K miles and the original fluid looked like mud.

Welp, I'll try to request them to use a genuine BMW gasket. Even If I have to pay for the part.

That way I don't have to keep going back and forth.

Usually (on my previous 4wd vehicles) a front differential fluid looks like this because the axle has a vent tube letting air and moisture getting to that fluid.

WTF. I have GM trans. After 6 AutoX days. Two Crazy track days. 4 years of Hard canyon driving! ALL USING MANUAL MODE DOWNSHIFTING AND SHIFTING AT 7000 Rpm or letting the gearbox do itself at max speed. Mines still came out glossy and red LOL. Refill with Liquimoly tho. Shifts buttery smooth now

that's a milkshake and you need to figure out why it's got so much water in it.

possible the trans cooler has an internal leak.
has coolant gone missing?

+1

Or extreme short trips where the fluid isn't getting up to temp. I swapped my original trans fluid in my 6L45 at 40k miles and it was dark but still had a hint of red. That looks milky.

Plus the freeway dry off never works as well as you want it to. Your mirror gets plastered with little dry water marks and you have to stare out the damn things incessantly so it's just a reminder you took the lazy way, wasted gas and didn't do a job the right way.

Bought and installed some inexpensive track pads. Read good reviews on F80/82 and decided to give them a try.

What's your opinion on the Cerakote kit?

Do you have before and after photos?

I used the Cerakote kit recently and am a fan. The single car kit will actually refinish two cars and I think it's better than the 3M or Meguiar's kits I've used.

Changed the spring out on my Turbosmart Raceport, what a difference now. Whoever is saying the Raceport BOV is too quiet is still running the stock stiffer blue spring, put in the purple/pink combo and WOW!! So responsive, much louder and pronounced now with a good distinct sound now too

~$130 for the Griots garage random orbital. $50 in pads and $20 in Menzerna SIP polish. What color is your paint?

It's incredibly hard to have anything but success with a random orbital and fresh pads. Just keep your working are clean and go slow at first.

It's hard to get a good picture of it. It looks milkier in the picture that in real life. I replaced the coolant a year or two ago and it's still riding the same level.

It is original fluid from almost 11 years ago and with 50K miles it hasn't been cruising on the highway that much. With Covid, it's had a pretty low-mileage year and lots of very short shopping trips, although the day before I put about 60 highway miles on it - yeah, that's a notable high.

I changed the fluid only and ran just shy of 12 quarts into it, matching the fluid extracted with the fluid added. I know it sounds nuts but I'm not in a position to be able to get the car up and level and do it all right. My car - my insanity. I could be imagining it, but I swear the transmission is less hesitant to shift, although nothing was really wrong with it before other being one of those crappy unresponsive 6 gear transmissions.

So I poured a bunch off into a very clean salsa jar (as in the picture). Is it worth getting it tested? Is it OK to test oil that's sitting a jar like that? Any other options than Blackstone?

New Zimmerman discs all around, paired with Akebono ceramic pads.

Found one of my brake hoses in the back has a nasty split. That is getting changed this week along with a brake fluid flush.

Seized rear caliper destroyed this disc. Was still able to get a few months out of it, but clearly it was time to replace.

Don't forget to anti-seize that hub face.

let it settle in that jar for a few days, see what drops out.
