So, I was driving to work today and the radio screen went dark and the radio stopped playing.

I hit the radio on button and the screen came back on and so did the radio.

At this point idek if I should change the battery and now both ground wires or?

BMW and electrics dont go well together.

I'm also hearing like a "vrrrr" sound or something when going over 40 MPH. Might just be the engine revving. Or diff going out?

I would load test the battery and alternator, and check all connections. Otherwise everyone here is just guessing at what the issue might be.

Also if your car is XDrive, check the front driveshaft joints for play.

To check the front driveshaft joints, I have to take both plastic under panels off our only the front piece?

I hear that sound when I am accelerating at 40 MPH+. When I deaccelerate at that speed, I hear nothing.

Did you replace the whole tensioner? I replaced just the pulley with another brand new INA pulley from a tensioner I had and it makes the same noise. I didn't have a new aluminum bolt, so figured I could just swap the pulleys. Maybe the noise is from the tensioner itself?

Yes, I replaced the entire tensioner, but I can't see how the tensioner spring can make the noise I heard. Did you also check the other pulleys with your stethoscope? The AC compressor pulley seemed to be a common problem from my research. Otherwise you could run the engine without the accessory belt to rule all of the pulleys out.

I agree, but with the stethoscope the noise definitely seemed to be isolated to the tensioner. I spun the bearing of the pulley I took off and it didn't seem bad, and the one I put on was perfect. Maybe the spring is loose on the tensioner and rubbing? I literally have an identical noise to your video. I ordered a new tensioner from FCP and will update. I checked the other pulleys and they weren't noisy. I originally suspected the AC or power steering based on other E90s I've worked on.

I drove the ultimate warning light machine after my brother has had it this whole time. Bunch of issues to resolve like 10 fuel and o2 codes but it's a solid 15 footer looks wise.

Also got a few parts for both cars, brakes for both, oil change kit for the e92, and transmission filter and gasket.
I've always wanted to have one of these BMW oil top up bags

Front driveshaft = only the front plastic, but it really wouldn't hurt to put the car on stands and check the rear shafts as well. Get it up in the air and start pulling on stuff and checking for play in all the joints. Also see if it changes when turning left or right, which could indicate an axle shaft or bearing issue.

So my quart of oil un stuck from the side of the trunk liner (velcro) and the oil cap got loose.

Note to self: Only put sealed quarts in trunk

Another thing: Anyone know why I'd get CCID 351, 354 randomly? 4x4 and start assist inactive. Its happened to me twice this week and disappeared.

I'll see if I've got time to take a look at it.

Ah shit. I guess you're gonna have to dish soap the whole thing now. The one I bought has Velcro in the back too, hope it holds but I'd never put one open there with all the bumps and crap here

I never realized what a rabbit hole detailing can be. I just spent over six hours with my DA Polisher, Swirl and Scratch compound, yellow pads and then wax attacking the paint. My BSM E92 is starting to look better but I have to wait on Griot's Fast Correcting Cream I ordered before doing a full polish and seal. You'd think that some of these supplies would be available in a reasonable sized town like Nashville.

I put dish soap in the foam cannon and went at it for a good half hour lol. There's still some in there and the carpets frayed but it doesnt look too bad. Neighbor has cotton trees so don't mind that

Lesson learned though. Even if you tighten the cap a good bit it'll still get loose

at least it wasn't gear oil.
made that mistake once.
ended up replacing all the carpet in the back because the sulfur smell of gear oil never goes away.
