The nice things about track driving are the run-off areas... My backroads don't have clear run-off areas - lol.

Yeah, bushings. Even after all that driving, I just lost one outer lower control arm bushing. That's why I find it amusing people think bushings get shot at 100,000 miles. I've hammered my car literally for a combined 100,000 miles on my back roads. I can see NJ/NYC tearing up bushings, but my wife had the E30 up in NYC for 4 years and I never changed a bushing in it even up to 250,000 miles.

I had the Z3 out yesterday. Now that is a real BMW.

Is that the original fan on your 325?

My 255K mile 325i and it's good, but the cooling fan and fuel pump are watch items. I never did get the blower wiring recall done, and just today the blower isn't spinning. I suspect it's seized since it's been chirping a lot lately - hope it's not drawing too much current.

I replaced the back window seals on my 330. Looks great now!

There's a YouTube video where a guy says to use silicone spray lubricant to help install them. That's a BAD idea because the groove of the new seals is lined with a thin bead of soft black butyl sealant to help adhere the seal to the edge of the glass. If you spray that with silicone, it won't stick. Plain old water works fine.

I also installed a new front bumper on my car. Had it painted to match my car based on the fuel door as a reference color, and after installation learned that my car's hood and original front bumper (which was old, cracked, and dented) had been repainted before. The new bumper color matches the rest of the car including the front fenders almost perfectly, but the hood has a very slight yellowish hue to it, only noticeable in direct sunlight and at certain angles. It's 90% matching the rest of the car color and good enough, but it won't fetch $80K at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 35 years when it's a true classic.

Nah. I slid a lot of cheap cars back in the day; the hardware is too expensive to fix nowadays. I stay within the grip envelope. Dodging deer and bears is more fun to be honest.

It was the original. Never made any bad noises. Just stopped. I got code 2EFE and the fan won't run under test. I checked the fuse.

My first DIY I wrote (as Eninty) was on the blower motor. If the tab breaks off in the back, you can just run an automotive trim screw to lock the motor in place. I just had the recall done on May 17th, and the PCV heater valve too. I'm going to do the OFHG (3rd one - lol) while I have the radiator and fan out.

So what is funny are birds. I think they like to challenge cars for fun... I probably drive 15 MPH faster than most of my (few) neighbors on the local roads. I think the birds time their flight (when they take to the wing) based on the average speeds they see other than from me... Gotta dodge them too.

Now that I have the E46 convertible in the mix, I've grown a new appreciation for the bats that take out the insects diving for the headlights. With a hard roof, bats are not a big deal - Lol.

This one is non M that I modified to work on M control arms. If you see closely you will notice flat head bolt going through it on one end. New M control arm came with new link so I replaced it.

I'm installing M3 wishbones (to match the M3 tension struts I installed a few months ago) once I get my new rear shocks. The B4s I received do not fit and the correct ones are backorderd so I just went with Sachs. Figured I'll do it all at the same time since I have to get the car aligned anyway. I picked up a Milwaukee M12 1/2 drive stubby impact which makes these jobs a breeze. Even just removing lug nuts is insanely easy and fast now.

A couple of tricks.

- keep the weight of the car on the ball joints when removing the nuts. It really helps if you have a air impact wrench.
- if you don't have it, get a 21MM gear wrench ratcheting box wrench. The ball joint nuts are 21MM. It goes much faster with a GearWrench.
