Industrial Automation - mostly troubleshooting and improving/smoothing operations and emergency support for breakdowns.
No degree (at all), fell into the profession as I understand machines and out-performed folks that held degrees in the field. Some things you just can't teach people. |

Litigator, I specialize in business litigation but have a very wide practice breadth including policyholder side insurance coverage, IP, trade secret, professional negligence and the occasional lemon law matter because it's a great excuse to employ my knowledge about cars.

What is it... three times for the same issue and it's a lemon? For lemon law - the attorney is paid for by the manufacturer when the claim is approved, correct? |

To answer your question like any good legal question: It depends. Most defects require four presentations/repair opportunities (not repair attempts). However, if it is a defect which causes a risk of death or serious injury (car going into limp mode, braking performance issues, fires, engine shutting off, etc.), then you only need two repair attempts. In CA, the Song-Beverly act is the actual source of law for lemon law matters. A successful win at trial or via terminating motion such as summary judgment entitles the plaintiff attorney to recover fees from the manufacturer. Technically, no such right exists in settlement. But the attorney's fees are generally much larger than the actual damages if the case is nearing trial, and both sides know this. So the manufacturer will include attorney's fees in the settlement to avoid the added expense of going to trial (easily another $50,000 in attorney's fees for a 3-4 day trial, and including trial prep you could be looking at another $50,000). For instance, I had an FCA case where even with the 2x civil penalty for wrongful denial of the buyback request the total damages were in the range of $45,000. However, the attorney's fees stretched back over the two years it had been litigated were in excess of $350,000. |

Professional photographer. Professional doesn't mean GOOD, just people are willing to pay me enough to buy a BMW. lol
Overshare time: I'm disabled and on SSDI, but I do photography stuff freelance too. My disabilities are all mental health issues, so I can't maintain regular employment, but I can do gigs, so that's what I do. Before someone gets on me, I tried to work for a very, very long time and almost screwed myself over before I applied for benefits. Now you know too much about me lol Last edited by longm1985; 12-15-2020 at 01:07 AM.. Reason: Adding details |

Freelance writer and video producer/director for the past 3 years. It's the creative part of my full-time work for decades. I started this phase by writing anything and making any video a corporate or mom-and-pop client wants. Now I only work with clients I like, and I've figured out how to avoid death by scope creep.

In slightly more than 120 days, I won't be doing *anything* for a living. I. Can't. Wait.

2021 will see my first venture into real estate as my three pronged approach. I will NOT be working until the age of generally accepted retirement. Just can't do it. |

More likely for a new bike. I'll finally have time to devote to riding and photography. And most likely cooking. My ideal day is a morning ride, afternoon photo shoot, then home to cook dinner for Wifey when she gets home from work.
