Let me put it this way ... I am in my 24th car, not counting company cars and the endless rented cars during my business life
 I don't know what the average number of cars during a life time is ... wait I Googled it and the answer is ,,, "They say the average person has 12 cars in their lifetime"... So I guess I'm a car nut  My first ever car was a 1953 Oldsmobile and our first ever new car was a 1961 VW Beatle. I owned 11 German Cars (one VW, three Mercedes and seven Bimmers four of them M3's). My first Bimmer (and my first toy) a e28 535is was purchased in 1987 and is still in the family. All the rest were American cars, mainly GM cars and some Ford's. The last American Car I purchased was in 1995 it was a Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis Edition. After that only Mercedes and Bimmers.

Like M3RD above, many auto's in past. Recently mostly luxury sedans or SUV's but favorites have been 2010 Porsche Cayenne (yes, a SUV), '04 BMW M3, '12 BMW M3, '87 Buick Grand National, '70 Olds 442, a couple of Jags & long time ago a bunch of 3-liter Healey's & a '70 Alfa Spyder. The 442 & GN are true hot rods; the Jags were beautifull nightmares; Luv the Porsche; Love the M3's but on the '04 the trans went out months after the warranty expired, & the 8k mile '12 M3 is in shop today for differential binding & noise with rear tires completly worn out! Love 'em all, but cheaper to not have owned any.
