Here's another quick tutorial for all to enjoy ... it's not as nice as the postings Mik325tds has given us on the alphabet soup delete ... but at least now I have something to strive for

Hmm.. I can hear snoring from other side the North Atlantic Ocean :-)

Ok, just as a FYI. Ecu's (prg names) are now listed in jobs/eculist.txt and the programs reads those during start. So you can add your ecu there if it's not listed or remove what you don't need.

About the editor: please don't delete the lines that are not arguments until I get it fixed :-) It may corrupt the argument and the job won't work anymore. also editing is done in realtime and changes are saved into customjobs.xml file immediately.

Ha, I just updated the software yesterday and I'm already a version behind.

Thanks for the tutorial DWR.

2deerwhistler/BB_Cuda, my lovely wife calls me whatever she wants. Although as far as Peanuts characters are concerned, it's usually something closer to Pigpen than Charlie Brown...

There's a parameter for motor's torque (IMOAK, actuelles motormoment) - what that means ? Same value is found but torque at clutch.. Does DDE calculate actual torque at crankshaft based on injection, air mass and various other parameters. I wonder how much this follows actual torque from real dyno numbers ?

You are welcome. Just FYI, I am working on a complete translation from German to English of the descriptive 'Info' column, for all 1604 entries in the MESSWERTE TABLE. In addition, I will attempt to designate which jobs have similar sources, ie. a particular sensor or actuator. That should make it easier to find the parameters you want.

This is awesome. I could use that too and use translations in result names i.e. what goes into .csv file's columns. The same label names will most probably be the same for other ECU's too.

Do you think you could come up with two columns for each entry: long and short description. With long I mean 'info' column and short description would be used in .csv file's columns as well as in graph window's result list, so they should be short enough ? I believe it would be enough to create short descriptions only for most commonly used.

The commonly used ones seem to be short. Not sure I should be the authority on what the short descriptions should be - unless, it is just a truncation of the long. I can certainly do that

Yes, diesels generally have a different control strategy than petrol engines. The operating ranges of air to fuel ratio is quite broad. At a lambda of 1 a diesel will produce smoke in the exhaust. Most of the time, a diesel will run with lambda values well above 1. Air does not need to be throttled in order for a diesel to operate. As such, fuel flow is the major determinant of engine output. Injection quantity per cycle equates to torque. Diesels also can run very high intake pressures without damaging detonation. Thus, turbo diesels can produce incredible amounts of low rpm torque. Torque can break drivetrain components. Torque becomes a control limit. It is a little more complex than that - but, hope you get the concept.

Yes, truncation of the long. Short but descriptive. Anything is better that STAT_AsMod_xyz_WERT Anyway I will leave the possibility to choose which to use in logging.

By the way do you have AEM gauge installed? You can log that too with Testo if you have it connected to serial port

Got it installed. Can verify the custom job building now works on my Win 8 machine. Good stuff pheno.

I do have an AEM flow gauge for the H2O/methanol injection, but my little Win 8 notepad doesn't have a serial port. But that IS a nice feature to have in your software.

Great!

USB Serial adapter could work, assuming there is USB port in your Win8 notebad... and if it is Win8 RT then it's no go.

Does 335D have automatic gearbox? I haven't checked but I believe there must be ediabas prg for that gearbox so we can get values out of it and log them. Just saying that if you have .prg file, any .prg file at all (also other's than DDE) TestO can run jobs and log them. A Gauge screen can be added for gearbox, etc.

Any idea what gearbox type/name/code you have ? Let me dig INPA .IPO files and try to find something..

EDIT: does any of this ring bells?

GS19,Gearbox / Automatic GS19,
GS30,Gearbox / Sequential SSG,
VGSG90,Gearbox / DXC VGSG,

The US are all AT - but there are 4 variants of the GS19 (a,b,c,d). I'll need to ck and see which one.

Thanks! Do you happen to know if there's anything interesting to log, for example turbine speed, magnet valves, parameters regarding shifting, etc.. ?

Mik325tds may have what you need - he shared some files with me, but I didn't know what to do with them

I'll send him a message and make that connection.

Here is the MESSWERTETAB table with english translations, in Excel. This is a table used in Testo to create custom jobs. The last column contains translations of the 'INFO' column.
The translations were performed with a custom function. The first cell entry in the translated column shows the function in use. All others are converted to text to minimze the calculation time after changes. The translations are imperfect and can sometimes be improved by splitting up larger words into their root components with a space. I've already done that for some entries.

Because of the file size I had to split the table into 2 attachments. Remember to remove the '.txt' from the end of the file name. Also, you must enable macros if you wish to use the translation function for further fine tuning. Enjoy.

Translating other tables

I should note you can use the spreadsheet for translating other tables, also.

Pheno gets full credit for showing me the following procedure for extracting these tables, using EDIABAS Toolset 32:
- Configuration->Ediabas-> Tick 'Simulation' (if not connected to car)
- File->Load SGBD->Choose c:\ediabas\ecu\d73n57c0 (short load delay)
- Find window 'Tablellen-Info' or choose menu Windows->4 tabellen-info
- choose your table, combo box at upper left
- normal copy and paste into spreadsheet
