New round these parts...

For me I went with the 328 mainly for reliability and a MT. I was between a 335 with an automatic and a 328 with the 6MT.

Went with the 328.

While it might be a very thin line, it is a line nonetheless... because I have a N51, and not a N54/55, my roots are N/A.

By the way, I was wondering when you were going to pick up on this little factoid.

Recently picked up an 09 6MT 328i for reliability over the 335i, would love to squeeze a bit more power out of though... Looking forward to what the 3 stage manifold and AA tune will do to it after reading some of the posts on here about it!

I've seen a lot of hpfp go bad. I've seen a lot of pissed off customers. I've seen a lot of injectors clog up. Ive seen a lot of fuel pressure sensors high and low go bad. I've seen a lot of walnut blasting. Ive seen a lot of intake pipes crack. Ive seen maf sensors clog up. Overall ive seen more problems on the N54 and N55 to say no thanks. I love my N52K. Would appreciate the N53, But then again HPFP arent worth the extra mpg. I just did my valve cover. The car has had the same one from factory causing an oil leak that slowly increased accompanied by burning smoke at startup. All that smoke bypasses the cabin filter and makes it straight through the vents. Not something i was happy about. Overall since ive owned it i havent had any major problems. And i purchased it with the vehicle behind on maintenance. I love my car.

I bought my 335 simply because I wanted to be apart of the BMW family. Totaled my 97 Camry and figured I'm at the point where I deserve something nice (recent grad) that I could still afford.

I chose the N54 after reading all the posts about its power and driving experience. I was almost swayed by all the reports of maintenance but the forum assured me there is help everywhere and the dealer should be last resort if not under coverage.

Honestly? Its been one problem after the other since ive owned it. Water pump/thermo went out within the first month of ownership. Spark plugs, coils, VC and Gasket just replaced. The brake light just came on. The vct selnoids need to be replaced. The car while rides nice is completely gutless with throttle response and the automatic.

Sorry to hear it. Water pump and thermostat are to be expected but it sounds like you've had a lot of frustrating repairs in addition.

Old German cars are pretty finicky, my brake light is also on at the moment although I'm 90% sure it's a faulty brake wear sensor. I can imagine how the throttle might feel weak in an auto. Which car is next on your list?
