So now it goes from na to a boosted car, since it runs a maf sensor for na cars, why wouldn't you change the intake from a n54 and run a map sensor since it's looking for boost now? I know it's a low boost number, but doesn't a boost controller have better control than a maf sensor with a bunch of crammed air going into the motor? We've seen what goes into a turbo kit for this, same principle being it's still forced air before the intake. Maybe this doesn't make sence for this set up, and that you have a n51 motor,, but this kit has so much potential, why not utilize it? I thought a car need to read the incoming air to adjust for its parameters , what are you gaining if it's being eliminated? Thanks for listening and would like to see if you thought about doing some modification yourself.
ESS apparently hasn't done destructive testing or anything else to find out how much power they can make. You can't even run this SC with headers for starters. Why do you think this thread has been silent? Especially from the guys that bought it and installed it since last year? They probably uninstalled it silently and went into the shadows because I don't buy the "I don't have time to dyno/0-60" or whatever reason to show the effectiveness of the kit unlike other guys who are FBO and have.
Damn bro, hate much? I already said if you paid for it I would do it. I can feel the car is a lot faster, even more when I put on the smaller pulley. Obviously not as fast as the turbod 328, but it's better than "FBO"
Because it's bullshit. Everybody that followed this failed SC has wanted the information for so long because the interest was strong and nothing ever came of it. I paid nearly $100 for 3 pulls at a shop nearby, for you do get 3 pulls for $20 is amazing. I plan on going back to the dyno once I resolve a few issues with an annoying exhaust leak and SAP to see how much more power I'm making with the AA headers, airbox mod and BPC tune.

I wish BPC would fix this kit. I'd rather have this over the turbo lag.

a quick video of acceleration should not cost you much except for the gas ... just saying .

there is already one flowing around on youtube but to be honest it pretty much looks stock or 328 with 3 stage intake tune combo at best

I've tried but driving a manual and holding a go pro is hard haha.

I've tried haha. Got the 7 plus so it's a little big. I'll see if I can get my next passenger to hold it for me

Now that the weather is better I'm sure you'll see one of us post up a video. Weather has been shitty. This is a good kit, the parts are all quality. I think it needs a more aggressive tune to take it over the top. The torque curve is not impressive so your initial impression will be ehhhh its not that fast. Honestly this car is slow regardless, I have a 600hp+ Panamera Turbo... this is just a toy. I've has ESS kits before so I had confidence going in. I will preach patience to anyone who is interested in getting this kit. Its a conservative upgrade. There are moments when I have it in DS when its surprises me and accelerates real hard. I'll try to get you guys a good clip when the weather clears. You won't be blown away... this is not a BPC beta kit, but it will give you more kick than a stock N52. I'm not sure how the BPC kit turns out but I really hope it comes out as promising as shown, looks like a bunch of good guys over there. The truth is that any production level release has to be toned down a bunch for everyday reliability. Its great if you have 450hp but not if its high maintenance as heck. I'm content for now but it will never have enough power/grunt/sound unless I stick an E6X V10 in it hehehehe. I've got a N54 donor in the shop right now, but I'm holding off for now... just doesn't excite me, been hunting for the E9X V8... but this is a great kit... I just couldn't possibly have a stock N52 in its current cosmetic getup lol.

Ya, it definitely felt like it was a kit to push out the door, some quick, tests, a little bump in power, cause when you car is at 175hp, you want more right? Lol ! We know headers make power, no reason it won't on a BMW, There may never be anyone able to see what the performance of this could have been unless you start some bolt on yourself. I believe the n52 has made its mark, and been thru all that's going to happen to, unless an owner starts on there own. I'd say throw a n54 intake, see where she goes from there.,

N51?

I'm confused by this post. I just ordered the ESS kit for my car. (N52) but it says on their website that the s/c is not available for the N51 yet but you got them to remote tune yours. did I miss something?

They couldn't make the tune work on the N51. Which is funny, because we've disassembled the code and they are bit for bit identical (only the parameters are really different).

well, I'll do my best to change that. I'm trying to find out what kind of software they're using to tune but ESS is pretty proprietary and won't share their tune. I've had this car for about two years and hang out with a lot of 335 guys and I'd like to shut them up. lol. Seeing what BPC has done with their turbo build makes me pretty confident that the engine can handle fairly significant hp with proper tuning. Ideally i would like to start repulleying this thing and turning it up. I have A 6MT and am getting the higher boost tune off the bat which they will no longer sell to people with automatics as of when I called last week. we shall see. as i'm new to the forum I will try to keep you guys posted.

Dyno please or at least a quick 0-60 or 5-60 comparison now vs supercharger. Any new information would be greatly appreciated.

Fixed that for you, 0-60 is a useless metric that is traction dependent.

ESS will not tune for modifications to their kit. Any modifications you do, you'll probably need a custom tune for.

I will try to address all of these. I don't have any mods right now that will affect the numbers. I doubt my AFE exhaust will change numbers much.

Dyno and a run at the track. Like hassmaschine says, the trap speed is the most important part.
