But will destroy any lotus around a racetrack outside a parking lot with cones set up on it.
Also hard to determine a cars look from drawing renditions of what some assume it will look like. I'm thinking it's going to be stunning in real life.

Cool, but my comment was only on appearance and based on the photo (rendering?) above.

We've seen mid engine, Corvette motored cars with huge track potential and questionable looks before. Consulier and Mosler weren't exactly huge success stories. Chevrolet still needs to get the styling right, regardless of performance.

You're right about styling but what Chevrolet will do is a long way from those abortions and not really comparable. Im sure the upcoming design will be fine. As we know there's always some that will complain but you can't make everyone happy. I look forward to seeing and test driving one.

This is a boutique manufacturer that was driven by the owner (he didn't care one bit about how the car looked, he just wanted it to perform).

GM is not a boutique manufacturer. They're not going to mess this up.

I don't know why but it looks exactly like a GM - mid engine or not. The front end looks too much like a Camaro. Maybe the guy who drew this is a GM guy.

There is something about GM design. All their cars look like they came out from Nashville instead of a proper automotive design studio.

It always takes me a few years to get used to body styling changes when the new model comes out.

I never thought I would get a C6 as I had numerous C5's before I finally moved into a C6. But I had an affinity for the FRC design. Plus it's so easy to make power with the LS platform.

Interior quality/design has always been the "sore spot" for Corvettes....especially the seats.

I finally moved to a C6 when the C7 came out as everyone was unloading them to get into the newest model, and price dropped dramatically. The C6 market did recover slightly though after a few years.

I always buy a generation behind just because of that. But I'm still not sure if I will move to a C7 when GM does release the next model even though the C7 interior was a huge improvement over the C6.

Still trying to decide if I can live with the rear look of the car, so it might take me a little more time.

Right now.....I'm satisfied with my current C6. Just some very minor bolt-ons and I have a 3200 lb (more or less) car with around 460/460 to the wheels.

Plenty of power and a blast to drive....and I can work on it / tune it myself.

I love my (new to me) BMW 1 series as my daily driver, but I'm still learning new things as they are so completely different when it comes to doing your own work on them.

The author does not seem to "get it". Just because something is "faster" does not mean it's "better". While the ZR1 is seriously fast, nobody will mistake driving it for even a regular Ferrari 458 or 488. People say that buying a Ferrari is basically buying the engine and the car just comes with it. The sensation of driving a mid engine car with a flat crank V8 can never be replicated even in the fastest Corvette with a push rod V8.

I hope GM will take into account the driving feel and pleasure of the mid engine and not just outright speed. Something telling me they'll get it wrong.

The side vents on the rear look like they sticking out too much and very odd looking.

Looks like an NSX and Gallardo had a baby. In a good way. Though the huge scoop on the side doesn't look very well integrated.

This is like when they said that you’d never get better driving dynamics than a bmw, and then US makers beat them at their own game with stuff like the ATS and CTS V, etc. There is no magic, competent engineers can make good cars and occasionally a turd (F30) comes along...

I am not defending BMW ... actually my post wasn't about BMW at all.
