Terry @ BMS has a v81 135, he found the limit, and tripped the code, and then backed off a safe amount away from that limit, knowing exactly where it is.

Its best to never trip it, but some beleive it can be cleared with the right tools.

Terry has that info, he has shared it with me, and its very specific. It has to do with solenoid duty cycle, fuel trims, and impedence checking.

Timing is advanced or retarded by phase changing the CPS, (crank position sensor) There is plenty of room to adjust timing as much as needed with this method.

You should read this:

It describes some of this in more detail.

Thank you sir for the knowledgeable post.

Do you have any dyno plots with AFR?

How does Terry have access to said information?

The AFRs with this engine tend to be the same regardless what tune gets used.

Yes, if you were the original buyer of the jb2, you can turn it in after purchase of the jb3 for a full credit

I would assume anyone thinking of doing JB3, should have the oil cooler installed?

Whether its factory or aftermarket?

I won't be doing any kind of tracking with the car but I would assume its still recommended.

I just got an 07 335i coupe this week and its 06 production so it doesn't have the factory oil cooler.

And after reading many threads I still haven't figured out if dealerships will retrofit it on or not free of charge?
Do you have to call BMWNA and file a complaint before they will do it?

Not required.

Terry developed the jb3 on a car that doesn't have an oil cooler, in all the testing, it runs as cool as stock

Question regarding the different programs. How do you switch between the different set ups. I want to run high performance but i have a 40km commute to work so running the max efficiency program when this comes out would be really nice.

Sorry, I'm new to all this but is the switch a seperate part or is it part of the package that you get? Reading the info on the site makes it seem like the switch is seperate but I don't see a switch in the products.

Also, how accessible is this switch? Can you just pop the hood and switch the map within a matter of seconds or would you have to dig into the box and switch?

So how exactly (if at all) does the JB3 adjust for someone like me, who has a pre v-81 (and 29.2 for that matter) 335 with 93 octane readily available?

With 93 octane the car sneaks in a bit more timing, and the tune will automagically adapt along with it. Nothing special you need to do
