What's up guys. So, I have an '07 328i with around 79k on it. I have 19" wheels on and I was thinking of lowering it. I got suggested by somebody to go with Eibach sport spring and camber correction kit...would it be okay to put that on my stock shocks, or would I have to buy new shocks (Bilstein for example) to achieve this? And what do the coilover kits normally include? I'm unfamiliar with suspension, so I would like to know more about it before doing anything.

Personally I think this info should be put in Mr. 5's Sticky but it's closed. I was curious about the OEM springs and their part #'s / labeling after reading through a thread.

I think there should be somewhere the info below + the rest of it completed for 6mt's, etc is posted to reduce confusion as I found it helpful.

I bought a E90 (318i) with the M Sport package just 4 months ago. those are the last produced E90 models. I loved the ride, the stiffness of the car, perfect balance, hard enough but not killing your back.

when the car had 6000KM, I drove to Italy (from The Netherlands). The national roads in Italy are so bad, lots of bumps and holes in the road. Everytime I felt it is killing the car. after 10 days in Italy (with addtional 4000KM), it feels like the car id very soft, bad handling, like it not more M Sport suspension. I went to dealer and they see nothing is wrong. Could the shocks be damaged (become soft) after 10000km? could it be such a difference. The car feels really different.
any ideas?

Your alignment might be off/incorrect - have the dealer do an alignment and inspect the undercarriage.

Were you able to find a satisfactory suspension solution?
I have a 2007 335i with sport package. There are many bumps and potholes where I live too and I have damaged many OEM Bridgestone RFT and Michelin ZP, with sidewalls cut open against the wheel when suspension hits stops. I thought a stiffer suspension, at factory height, would not hit its stops and damage tires so often.

Still... That's not going to be a great handling car. With stock shocks depressed further than normal it's going to have a greater tendency to hop as soon as it gets a little assistance from a bump, pothole, etc.

I've searched and read but can't find an answer. Why doesn't kw make the V2 for xi models? I would prefer to have coils with damping adjustment but can't justify the 2500 for v3. The H&R coils arent' damper adjustable but are also cheaper than kw v1's.

KW responded to my email inquiring about the V2 and they said there isn't demand for it with the xi. They also said they don't have any intentions of making one at all so there goes that.

Hey guys, so I need to replace my front struts and was thinking about doing a full suspension setup, nothing crazy tho. My options are either to just replace the struts with bilstein stuts or to run koni FSDs and eibach springs and possibly lower the car an inch.

I just figure if I'm going to be replacing parts I may as well upgrade my car. So any advice on what I should do, I'm not looking to spend more than $1K+ because the only reason I'm doing this is to replace my bent and leaking struts.

Bilstein HD with stock springs. Bilsteins are so well made they will tighted up alot in your suspension that has loosened over the years.

But I can't find any model that fits beside the Bilstein @$300 each.

This is my wife's car and I just want to leave it stock.

Does anyone know if Monroe/KYB/Koni/etc make a strut that fits my car? I couldn't find anything online, in any of the fitment guide.

From what i read, for Xi's only option you guys have for struts are the Bilsteins. Koni only makes the rear struts.

Id shop around for the bilsteins. i see them going from 200-300. you can get a set of 4 for like 650 from turner.

At what mileage do suspension components such as shocks wear out? I have a 2006 325i (non sport) with 86k miles on it, and am looking to lower the car and improve handling. I'm not sure whether I should go with a set of springs of some sort, while ignoring the stock shocks, or save up to do both, since I hear you have to do an alignment when you lower the car.

At the same time, since adding shocks/springs adds up in price, would a cheaper set of coiliovers such as BC racing be an option? For the record, I'm after looks, while not being too low. I also love throwing my car around corners.

a coilover set-up or a strut and spring set-up will improve handling.

Spring and strut set-up is a cheaper route vs coil-overs (reputable brand).

Stock springs and struts can last a very long time 100k+ depending on conditions and use. Since your stock struts have 86k miles, its a good idea to change them out also. People put lowering springs on stock struts no problem, but technically wears struts much quicker. If you have no intentions of using the stock struts when off, you could use lowering springs until one of them blows then upgrade the struts.

or you can find a used set of coils if price is an issue. For many this is the better option. Handling is much improved, adjustability, and for some comfort. People seem to like BC/KW/AST/ST. do some research, see what fits your budget. If you can afford coils do it, if not, strut and springs, if not that then, springs.
