Quite a map, and seems to work well with pump gas too.

True.
I had no issues with limp modes or boost spikes.
I only had one issue and that was traction.
With this map, I spun 1st 2nd and 3rd with 16psi in my drag radials.

Only later to find out that all the smoke it was generating causes the staging light to not see when the truck actually left! I will say it again, and tried to prove it with this visit. I think you will find as much useful consistancy testing with the Vbox than the massive variables between tracks, conditions, etc. So if you want to evaluate how your car is running, there is no better way to test, unless you have a dragstrip in your back yard.
I've taken the PBox with me to Sacramento, but didn't really compare any of the runs. I've only compared the numbers in Famoso and in Fontana. In Famoso, the PBox was 0.6 to 1.0 mph more than the actual track while in Fontana it was more of a match except a few times.

Congrats on the times, those are remarkable. I had to laugh when I saw your signature. I'm trying to sell my 335 cab to buy a very low mileage '87 GN. I just enjoy driving the old cars more than the new ones. Everyone thinks I'm nuts for preferring driving my '67 GTO over the 335 or even the 740iL.

Yup, my GN is the car that sits in the garage, the BMW outside, LOL.

So anyways, the rain let up a little, but the road was still wet, and there was sprinking as I made my test runs. So basically, no traction off the line as evidenced by the 2.4 second 60' times.

But totally stock, with RFTs, as the car came from the show room floor, and starting off in 2nd gear (not enough traction at all for 1st gear starts), the car ran about a 13.9 at 105.9 mph. Temps were pretty cool (about 50F), so ideal HP conditions. So if you were to figure in a decent 2.0 60' time, this would equate to around a 13.2-13.3 second 1/4 mile, and probably around 106mph or so. So this puts it right in the range of a strong running 335i. And I believe those are the kind of numbers I got when I tested a long time ago stock. I will find and post those numbers.

So I traded the car in on a new black 335i sedan. I finally convinced my GF she does need a car, LOL. It didn't hurt that I offered to pay the the drive off fees and first month's payment as an early Xmas present!

Hotrod, how about some hard brake-in, put JB3 in with some 13psi map right away in the showroom, drive some 10miles to get engine warm and then heavy accelerations AND decelerations for the first 50 miles. Avoid red line the first few pulls, but then go all the way there.

What people say is factory freak, is nothing more than just well driven from the very beginning. And you obviously drive your cars "well" with hundreds of quarter mile sprints with G-tech / VBox and general hard driving.

Hah!, It only has 8 miles on it! I waited till my coupe had 63 miles on it before I had to race some S4 on the fwy. I was looking at some of my Sedan Gtech graph dates, I think I waited till the car was at least 2 days old! The new one is black with terra dakota. Kind of a cool interior combo. I don't look forward to taking care of a black car though!

Am I reading this right? You traded in "The Ringer"????

If so, post up the dealers name so someone can go buy it up before it falls into the hand of some poor slob who doesn't know what they've got.

Yep. After breakin I hope he pops on the JB3 and wheels/tires from his 07 and duplicates the times from his white 07. Might quiet down some naysayers

I wonder if Shiv will have a new 07 white 335i in his test car stable soon

Its funny but people say my car is a 'factory freak' as well and funny enough, i ran it hard from day 1. Had just over 100km's, (basically trip home from dealer and to show a friend) and was already racing his S4 v8. At around 600km's was at the track doing quarter mile runs and 1100km's i had procede in it. Car has run flawlessly and never had any major issues and stock to stock, i seem to be a tad faster.

Love to see the new car though! I may be getting a new one as well in the next year.

Question 1 for bad, 2 for good... ?

Hotrod182,

Sorry if I missed it but were you launching in 1st gear or second gear at the track? (Achieving those 117MPH+ traps)

Maybe a mix of both?

Too bad you turned in the ringer, I'm a firm believer in a relatively hard break in so hopefully your new one will run strong as well...

Is someone out there gonna snag that car?

The coupe has enough mileage on it now, I think it is running decently. I know just the other month I ran some tests, and it seemed to be trapping around the same mph as the sedan in at least one of the test sessions. I really want to see how the performance of the different maps compare on my Vbox. Like I said, the other day on the default map, I ran pretty much dead even with a new 380hp Carrera 4S. I then realized I could have switched onto a hotter map from inside the car.

On the white sedan, the technician putting new brakes on the car (totally stock), thought the car seemed to run particularly strong. The runs above in the rain were all starting in 2nd gear. I actually hit the traction control hard enough that the car totally loses acceleration, but still ran in the 13's. The runs at the drag strip were all starting off in 1st gear.

I had a 06 M3 and took it to Famoso. I also broke that one in pretty agressively. It was by far the quickest stock M3 at the event. I had owners of M3s with exhaust and CAI systems coming up to me asking what I had done to the car.

So yes, I think agressive driving keeps the car running at the top of its ability.
