It's impossible for it to be sitting forward because it's circular. Is it spinning correctly, as in is it fluent and not moving forward or backward by spining it? If it spins in the same position it's perfect, otherwise just pop it back up and reposition it. It fits perfect. I promise --- I tested it.

I also had quite some trouble on putting the new one in place... I also see that it's about a quarter inch higher than the original one. I'm not sure why, as you can see in the pic. I've pushed it down as far as it can go without breaking any components. I guess I can live with it.

The knob is so awesome. I've envisioned this day everyday for a month and I'm so happy!!! Thank you so much Logan!

Also, I think you may have been busy and forgot the $5. And I still think the knob is floating too high. I'd like to find out if anybody else's knob is the same.

Glad you like it! I totally spaced on the $5. Sorry man. PM your address again and I'll mail it out. As far as where it sits, I noted the problem when I was making the modificiation and spent hours thinking of how I could lower it. Truth me told, it sat higher before I figured out breaking the tabs on the 5er knob and grinding it out provides a lower clearance. So before I spent time thinking about how to lower it, it sat much higher. In fact, if you just took off the lip and glued it together it would be almost 3/4 of an inch off the surface. Things I did to lower the profile included, milling the 3er knob down to it's inner groves by 1/200th of an inch where the connection is actually made. And I also broke off the tabs holding on the leather insert and milled out the interior of the 5er.

So with the engineering I put into the knob, it's as low as it's going to get. Period. With the research I did, as I said, I took about 3/4 of an inch out of the height but it simply won't get lower. The only thing you can do is grind the tabs on the bottom of the knob down more but you might get 1/20 of an inch lower at most. And the problem with doing this is that is hurts the structural integrity. Trust me, I've been through this. The knob on my car is the "production version" and it's just like yours.

But to be honest, you only really notice the extra height if you're down by the floor as shown in the pictures. You'd never notice it otherwise, at least passengers or someone who never saw the original knob would never notice it.

Because I stand behind my product, if you really can't stand it. Send it back and I'll give you a refund. Other than that there isn't much I can do. It's engineered as best as possible to be as low as possible to the surface as it can be.

Logan from your photos, it appears to sit much lower than Sunchilds though. If it really does sit 1/4in off the dash like his does im not to sure how Im going to like this eaither. but as I said it is MUCH lower on your can than his :-\.

It's called "photo magic."

My picture is just at an angle that you don't notice it. My picture shows what you'll actually see it as in day to day use. When you get in the car and when you're actually using it, you'll never notice the height. It's only when you actually bend down and look right to the side of it that you see it. Trust me on this one. From normal using positions it looks only slightly higher than the 3er and this is caused by the extra material used along the sides to support the leather insert.

Ok, it seems to me I can live with it as well. I just wanted to bring it to our attention. Thank you Logan, everytime I get in my car, I just ... touch my new knob and it feels like a tit. Well not really. But you get the point.
