What mileage are we doing? If over 125-150 miles are we passing petrol stations, don't want to be a bore but in a 16MPG car with only £35 tank (don't like running it that low either) petrol stations are a must

Will bring my camera if anyone really doesn't want pics of their car though, please tell me Gav, none of you or none of your car?

As posted on page 3!!!
There is a petrol station near the initial meeting point. There will be petrol stations on route, but not in the Dales.

As for pics, really don't mind either way

Heading up to Grassington this afternoon to check out pubs and cafes. Will make a preliminary booking if there is somewhere suitable and confirm exact numbers on the day Will also look into Devonshire Arms Helen, but I think it's gone a bit up market as it's got a Michelin Star now!

Top of the M606 as you arrive in Bradford.

Loads of roadworks there at the moment as there is a major development of the access onto and of the motorway...so don't put trust totally on your satnavs. However, it's still easy to find and allows the opportunity to relax for those travelling from Scotland etc.

Suggested meet itinerary:

Meet at Cedar Court Hotel between 10.30 -11am

Drive into the Dales

Photo stops at the Cow and Calf rocks on Ilkely Moor Bah'tat and maybe Bolton Abbey

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilkley_Moor

http://www.boltonabbey.com/

Lunch at Grassington

http://www.grassington.uk.com/

Drive on via Malham Tarn and Malham Cove

http://www.malhamdale.org.uk/malham_cove.htm

Stop for chat and photos

Back to Bradford via Skipton and Haworth. Worth a stop and look around if it's not too busy. http://www.haworth-village.org.uk/

Hotel book in for those staying

Curry evening and drinks at Omar Khan's

Just a refresher...

Think I could 'suffer' eating there. Good hunting Gav and the weather's been nice today.

Pleased TMP seems to like his food as well, so it doesn't make me look too much of a greedy guts.

pjs: You raised the question about what type of drive it will be........put it this way, none of us are male between the ages of 17 and early twenties and drive Saxos, Corsas or Renault Clios. Think that explains things. Oh and as for joe public, nothing can be as hostile as the reception we could get years ago pulling up somewhere on motorbikes!

I think someone said food.

For the record, I am quite fat, which is a product of liking food too much

I know this area well, if you need help choosing a lunch venue - I have probably eaten something wherever your thinking already and would be glad to help!!!

However.... following Gav and Helen (then slumming it in her Cayman S) did mean that there were lots of cars being passed by space grey, black, and blue cars mostly train style (one after the other) and might have upset/surprised certain weak minded and inattentive box drivers...

Otherwise, pretty placid and straightforward.

How they'll handle a whole string of BMWs with the occasional Porka...

Alan you get that if you are generally driving to enjoy yourself anyway lots of people in "boxes" seem to hate people over taking them anyway, maybe you are luckier with regards to this on the Scottish roads

Today I went round a Renault Kango (or whatever they are called), perfectly safe overtake, no cars coming the other way, gave him plenty of room, nice clear straight on a B Road and he was flashing his lights and shouting abuse at me!

As for food, so long as it is nice I'm not fussy at all!

**Must learn to read other pages first**

Not sure where the posh fits in?? It's only a poshcruise when me and SerJames turns up

It's a hoon, run out, drive out bit like it's a Porsche not a Porsch...

Had a great run out today. Some sunshine, a few squalls of rain and very windy, but not too many people on the roads to slow progress. Enjoyed a real mix of roads, including some pretty interesting single track lanes with passing places and a sheer drop into the valley above Malham Tarn! Fantastic driving, but only slowly! Then there are faster B roads, some swift A roads and long stretches of dual carriageway bypass...but you've got to watch out for unmarked cars and camera vans on these.

I've attached some pics. to give you all taste of the area. Also found a place to eat and booked us in, but am posting details on another thread to avoid clutter.

Cheers

Gav

No idea. Think they may be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in the centre of town? Why not PM Alan, as he will have booked something.

Good stuff Gav.

Great roads and views around Malham Tarn. Watched a programme about the thick glacial drift which created the area.............it was interesting - honest!
