We want to keep things slow enough to keep the system stable. But fast enoough to keep the auto tune responsive to changes in fuel, condition, use, etc. Interesting enough, the logic here is nearly identical to closed loop boost control. But now we can call it closed loop Tune control I guess. I'll have some more data and test results (dyno) to post next week illustrating how this works.

It's similar to what goes on in the DME in that it applies long term timing trims. But dissimiliar in that it will also apply long-term boost trims when timing adjustment range is maxed out in either direction.

In the case of meth mapping, the extra boost and timing be induced immediately as the meth flow value increases. This has nothing to do with auto-tuning. The auto-tuning system would be too unstable if we made it quick enough to adapt to transitional changes like this. Instead it will always be running in the background adjusting ignition correction and user torque gradually depending on knock activity (or lack thereof). Think of it as long term corrections. In this case, "long term" will probably mean a few 3rd or 4th gear pulls. Pretty quick.

Take the cost of any other tune and add a BT cable and you'll be at the V4's price point.

Now factor in all the features of the Procede vs other tunes and not only do you get an awesome tune with a ton of features, but the ability to remove the tuner codes/datalog for the same price of a conventional tune & the bt cable.

In the spirit of keeping the thread honest.. that's not really true at all. The Procede is $945 for the tune, plus another $10-41 for a USB/serial cable and let's just standardize on $15 shipping.. that brings the cost to $970-1,001. On the other hand the JB3 PnP+BT (1vin) is $699, plus another $35 for USB cable and $15 shipping for a grand total of $749. That's a difference of $221-252, not an insignificant sum to some. Of course you can get into a debate on the useful life of the BT cable and the fact that the Procede doesn't have a VIN limit..... but I digress.

DCT cuts out power which prevents you from losing traction.

I'm guessing Shiv is referring to traditional launch control which sets a temporary "rev limit" so you can mash the accelerator pedal and the rpms will bounce off that temp rev limit to allow easier launching.

For example you depress the clutch while the car is stopped and step on the gas, the engine will be limited to a certain RPM which allows you to slip the clutch and launch with ease rather than doing a massive burn out from launching at too high of an RPM or bogging/stalling from launching at a low RPM. Think of it as a temporary rev limit to help you launch.

I never thought I'd use it in my previous cars but it's incredibly useful even off the track.

I can't imagine what other kind of launch control there would be unless it's just a revised method of how the DCT interferes with the throttle to prevent slip

I'd prefer rpm limit based launch control as I'm accustomed to the 2 step in my EVO which makes it much easier to launch.

Although I agree with jp in this case (that Shiv's launch control is much more than a rev limiter), I would still REALLY REALLY REALLY love it if Shiv would implement stutterbox (two-step launch control) capabilities into the PROcede.

Definitely agree. Temp is smaller I believe and I like it there all the time, whereas to be able to toggle to boost, along with all the other things one can toggle thru like instant MPG, avg. MPG, miles to empty, etc. would be great. Then I can even turn it off if I want, and have that lower portion blank.
